Trainer Peter Hardacre said the horse had come through his dominant four-length win in great order with the $175,000 Santa Ana Lane Series Final at Flemington in July his immediate assignment.

"He had 10 days off after Swan Hill and is in great order,'' Hardacre said.

"He'll go to Flemington for the Santa Ana Lane Final, he's going to be harder to place going forward but that race looks a nice option for him,'' he said.

Hardacre said they had their eyes on some early spring sprint races with Press Down who has followed two luckless runs during the Adelaide Racing Carnival with two emphatic wins with Victorian jockey Neil Farley in the saddle.

"At this stage we'll keep him going while he's racing well,'' Hardacre added.

"There are a couple of nice races early in the spring I'd like to have a look at, a couple of Group 3's early on where we might avoid a lot of the good sprinters, so that's the plan.

"The Adelaide Carnival next year is always going to be in the back of our minds,'' he said.

Hardacre said Press Down's full-sister Press Express had a few things against her at Morphettville on Saturday where she has drawn the inside gate after being beaten 7.8 lengths behind Fashion Dog when resuming.

"She was only fair first-up but we put that down to the soft track,'' Hardacre said.

"She might not go around given the weather we've had, plus I don't think the inside gate would be any spoils,'' he said.
