Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - MISHANI STORM (9) ran well on debut when she raced on pace and fought on to finish second over 1000m at Eagle Farm. Sure to take a lot from that hitout so she shouldn't be a maiden for long. HEAD HONCHO (2) stepped out on debut in the same race at Eagle Farm and finished fourth, 1.5 lengths behind Mishani Storm. Will be better for that run. Contender. GOLD CITY (8) is a filly by Sun City on debut for Liam Birchley. Showed ability with a recent trial placing at Doomben. With the blinkers on a bold run is anticipated. MYTHBUSTA (5) made an encouraging debut last time out, finishing 3 lengths from the winner in third over 1000m at Eagle Farm. Has upside and must be respected.
RACE 2 - SOOBPURB DANCER (8) was outclassed at Listed level in the Queensland Cup at Eagle Farm last start but is much better placed. Had been racing consistently before that with a string of top-four finishes and races well at this distance. Can give this a mighty shake. LATELY (3) delivered as favourite two back at Grafton before a fourth last time out over 2180m at Ipswich. Can be there at the finish. ZOOMURUDI (2) has been racing well on the Gold Coast Poly including a win by 2.3 lengths as favourite last time. Could carry that form onto the turf. ENDLESS MYSTERY (4) worked home for a 1.8L fourth here last time so the longer trip may suit.
RACE 3 - LOOSE UNIT (7) has yet to miss the top-two at this venue this time in. Broke his maiden at this trip two back then was leading on the turn and fought on to finish second at his latest appearance. Going well and can atone. MOTION LEGEND (3) kept chasing when he finished 0.7 lengths away in third last time out at Warwick. Strong run last time and is worth following up. BASSAC LANE (4) is progressive having won two of three starts so far. Can be thereabouts again. SUBSTANCE (10) next best.
RACE 4 - TORQUE LEICA STAR (9) made it back-to-back placings when third at this track two runs back then was unplaced but only beaten 2.7 lengths last time. In a good yard and looks nicely places. CAPITEEL (3) continued the good recent form when he finished just 1.2 lengths away in third last time out over 1800m at this track for a fourth successive placing. Going well without winning and can give backers a sight. AIDEN (1) was a winner last month and looks close to another after finishing in the placings at his last couple of runs including a second at this track and trip. Among the leading chances. CAPTAIN UNDERPANTZ (4) ran on last time to follow a Grafton placing. Can feature.
RACE 5 - MORE TROUBLE (9) finished third over this trip at Eagle Farm on debut four months ago and has been kept under wraps since. Likely to have developed over the break and could prove tough to beat. COURT WHISPERS (8) finished third, beaten 1.8 lengths when resuming last start over this distance at this track. Can progress off that. OWN TOMORROW (10) is back after a break of four-and-a-half months. Managed a placing over this trip two back at Doomben. Looks up to the mark following a trial win at Deagon. Could make a winning return. MISTER HEMSWORTH (1) resumes after a break of seven months and has switched to the Jack Bruce stable. Consistent and has to be respected.
RACE 6 - ZIN ZAN READY (1) produced a nice effort on debut over this trip at Ipswich when second, beaten a head. Nicely drawn and with natural improvement likely he could go one better. SOBUTE (6) has raced twice. Was fourth on debut then clocked-in 2.5 lengths from the winner in third last time out over 1000m at this track. Good chance to break through. PROCYON MISS (13) is by the leading sire Written Tycoon and from the stakes winning mare O'Rachael. Won at most recent trial over 1050m. Blinkers are on and is a winning hope. LION'S PRIDE (9) can improve sharply in his second start. Don't dismiss.
RACE 7 - SIZZLING GAL (10) is racing well recording back-to-back seconds here before closing well when beaten 1.2 lengths over 1350m at Ipswich last start. Finds a suitable assignment so has winning claims. SLEIGH QUEEN (12) returns from a spell of four-and-a-half months and did win first-up last time in work over 1400m at this track. Placed in two recent trials so should be ready to go. FIGHTING IDOL (8) has been racing well this time in including a couple of wins. Among the chances. CADERAS (14) is progressive having won his two starts on the poly since a spell. Could take the next step.
RACE 8 - EVERLASTING STARS (3) was close to the placegetters fresh then missed by just a nose when second at this track and distance last start. Has trialled since so should have come on. Can peak. OCEAN ENDEAVOUR (5) was returning from a spell when she was beaten 2.5 lengths here. Ended her brief maiden campaign with a Doomben win so has some ability. Strips fitter and can improve. OUTWEIGHED (13) kicked off her career in the ideal fashion when she pushed forward for a determined win by 2.8 lengths at this track and distance on debut. Could go on with it. The resuming SNOW BOUM (8) can play a role fresh.
