Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - SEEKING GLORY (1) led and missed a whisker here in the 66. That was easily her best effort since the switch from Maher/Eustace in Melbourne. Peaks and can go one better. STRAWBERRY SWING (4) won the 58 first-up as expected and then raced favourite again but was plainer in the 64. She has more to give and is at her best over this distance. Has a handy 2kg claim and can make the finish. TRYGVE (2) resumes with a solid effort at The Parks and has more to offer. He's also a chance.
RACE 2 - Tricky. NOORTOOMANY (9) resumes and has switched from a Victorian yard. Has trialled and wasn't beaten far at Sale his latest. Races forward and has a handy 3kg claim. ROLLING DUCK (12) hasn't got the peaks of the above but has the immediate form. Was beaten a whisker here second-up and carries a feather with the 3kg claim. Draws wide so needs a good ride. LEVEE (4) resumed further improved. He can build on that placing if the awkward gate is managed. BATTLE ROYALE (2) has been racing in stronger and will be fitter. No surprise to see quick improvement.
RACE 3 - HIGHLAND ANGEL (6) switched from a Victorian barn and was okay first-up. Followed with a placing and the lightly-raced mare is ready to win. Draws handy and keeps the handy 2kg claim. MY BOY JETT (12) was beaten 3.5L at Strathalbyn but spiked his figures. That effort was good enough for this and a 3kg claimer goes on. Rates to go close. SHIPWRECK (8) surprised the market placing second-up. Draws wide today but keeps the handy 3kg claim. Fitter and is in the mix. GOLDEN AKEED (11) is third-up and is a trifecta chance.
RACE 4 - KAYSERI (3) found more like his best narrowly beaten in stronger. Responded to the addition of the tongue tie and he should go close with average luck from the sticky barrier. REALTIN (6) was narrowly beaten in a 54 and will be better for that. Has the figures to fight out the finish. DANTELA (5) found one better in the 68 quickly back on track. Has the rail and Crowther sticking is a positive. A chance. ORIEDOS (9) brings two improving efforts and will be near peak. Gets plenty of weight relief at this level and draws for a soft run. Has to be considered.
RACE 5 - Competitive. AL RANCHERO (8) has been racing in town and at the provincials. Had good support at The Parks two back and is suited this grade and trip. On a 7-day return. SHINSEKI (7) has been close-up over sprints in 66 grade and third up will enjoy the longer journey. Will likely settle back off the rails gate and that's a query. ENBARR (2) resumed with a solid effort in the 66. Won this distance before the spell and fitter can make the finish. SINO WITNESS (9) is second-up out of the same race and also has claims.
RACE 6 - Tough. NASDANA (6) is a former Victorian who needed the first-up run before a solid effort at Morphettville in a 66 against her own sex. Has more up the sleeve and her third-up record stands out. May sit a little closer today from a low barrier and is suited. PROUD MARY (11) is also third-up and ready to fire. She keeps the handy 2kg claim but settles back and always needs some luck in the run. JUSTICA'S BONUS (5) will be fitter and finds a bit easier. The 2kg claim assists and he should see out the longer sprint this time around. In the mix. FREE WILMA (12) resumes and Crowther's booking sparks interest. Monitor the betting moves.
RACE 7 - PRESCIENT (4) has been narrowly beaten both starts this preparation at short quotes. They stack right up and the speedy galloper can control the race from the low barrier. Fitter and can go one better. MCCAIN (1) was narrowly beaten at Gawler and then found one much too good at The Parks but covered the others. This is easier and the 4kg claimer sticks easing the weight burden. This is winnable with average luck in the run. MYOCEAN WARRIOR (3) did a good job from back in the field on resumption and then led heavily bet belting the Maidens by 2.4L. Keeps Crowther but has to manage a wide gate today. He looks capable of a repeat regardless. DAY FOR IT (13) is an improver with a 3kg claim and is worth a look at a price in a competitive race.
RACE 8 - JAAZEB (1) has been busting to win in town and well-placed. In a sharp metro barn and Crowther is a key jockey switch for the apprentice. Can box seat from an inside gate and he'll be here to win. SEA WITNESS (3) raced forward second-up in a 74 at The Parks and was swamped late beaten 2.3L This is much easier and the 1.5kg claim assists. Will position forward again and flies third-up. A player. KOVA (9) resumed in a 58 with a near miss. Gets plenty of weight relief at this level and her best would see her competitive. The rails gate advantages. EVENING BRIDE (6) resumes for the new barn and has won 2/3 fresh. Has the 2kg claim and is good enough. Keep a close eye on the betting moves.
