Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - STEP ALONG (2) has gone close when runner up in both runs to date, last time leading and fighting on well to miss missing by just a nose. Jim Byrne goes on. Big chance to break through. RISING RUBY (8) is on debut for the Billy Healey stable. Two-year-old filly by Flying Artie who won her latest trial. Go well. BLIND DESIRE (3) is another facing the starter for the first time. By Dubious and is out of the Laming stable. Keep a close eye out for a positive market move. OOHLALOUVRE (7) can also make an impact on debut following a trial placing.
RACE 2 - PAULI (6) kept coming to only just miss by half-a-length when runner up last start at this track and trip. That put the writing on the wall. Going well and has winning claims. HIGH CURRENCY (4) returns after five-and-a-half months in the paddock having previously raced in Victoria. Readied with a trial and gets the inside draw. Expect her to measure up in this region. SMASH IT MADDI (10) gave a sight when leading for fifth over 1540m at Gold Coast Poly last time. Has placed in two of four tries at this distance. Contender. ELSIE'S ADALYN (2) is on debut. By Domesday and is out of the Stuart Kendrick stable. Draws well so watch the market.
RACE 3 - RUSTIC BOOM (6) was prominent early and boxed on to be beaten less than two lengths into fourth when resuming over 1200m at Doomben last start. Usually performs well with that run under his belt and will appreciate a drop in grade. Strong claims. TOW THE LINE (7) kept chasing and was just over 2L from the winner when when resuming over 1110m at Doomben. Won her only attempt at this course and distance so looks well placed. GALAXY GENERAL (2) was in the firing line on the turn and finished second last start at the first run back from a spell over 1100m at Gold Coast Poly, beaten a nose. Likely improver with bright prospects. JUST LOOKING (9) put the writing on the wall last time when a close second at Gold Coast Poly over 1050m. Should be nearing her peak third up.
RACE 4 - SEERESS (6) is backing up quickly after a bold victory at this track and trip only five days ago, leading throughout to spank her rivals by close to 6L. Cleary appreciated this surface there so can win again on the back up. HEREDITARY (3) was sent out favourite last time when fifth over 1800m at Gold Coast. Had a win and a second from his previous two on poly so this surface should play into his hands. Contender. SNAPOUTOFIT (2) built on a nice second two starts back at Tuncurry with success over 1540m at Gold Coast Poly three weeks ago, getting home by a long neck. Can be in the finish again along with last-start placegetter FORCE ME (10).
RACE 5 - HE'S ESSENTIAL (3) is close to a win after back-to-back placings, last time leading and fighting well when beaten a nose into second at this track and trip. Big chance to atone. ENTERPRISE LASSIE (2) was resuming from a spell of four months last start when leading and kicking on to be beaten a neck into second over this course and distance. Has good early toe so she should be handy in the run. Among the leading chances. BAMBALAM (4) bounced back last start and scored by a neck over 1400m at this track. Must respect along with ROCKED (1) who can improve second up.
RACE 6 - TORQUE BOSSANOVA (7) wasted no time getting off the mark on debut over 1200m at Sunshine Coast a year ago and has not appeared since. Gelded since and readied with a recent trial. Draws the inside and could pick up where he left off. READY TO TORQUE (8) placed fresh then showed the way from barrier rise to score by 1.3 lengths last start over this course and distance. Race fit and could prove tough to beat. KING OF THE JUNGLE (3) makes his return and races well at this distance. Readied with a trial so should make an impact. TANTRUMS (13) could sneak into exotics.
RACE 7 - HEARTONI (3) made a nice return last time out to finish second and beaten only 0.8 lengths over this course and distance. Won his only second-up attempt and has a strong record at this journey with two wins and two placings from five starts so is right in this. OUR RED PLANET (4) proved too strong two runs ago at Sunshine Coast before tackling a stronger race at Eagle Farm. Finds an easier assignment and can make an impact. WATERWORLD (2) continued his consistent form when winding up strongly to just miss when second over 1200m at Gold Coast Poly. Must be included. Last-start winner ADALIE (5) is a major player again.
