There are as many as nine meetings scheduled to take place on Sunday, including at Swan Hill where it's Cup day.

As well as Swan Hill, they race at Edenhope, Hobart, Kalgoorlie, Port Augusta, Roebourne, Sapphire Coast, Sunshine Coast and Taree.

Flood to take out Swan Hill Cup

The feature race of the day is the bet365 Swan Hill Cup, a 1600m handicap event that comes up as the penultimate race on a nine-race program at Swan Hill.

Matt Ryan is set to saddle Munhamek here, with the veteran expected to start favourite jumping from barrier five.

The gelding provided a fairytale end to top hoop Damien Oliver's career when taking out the Group 3 Damien Oliver Gold Rush over 1400m at Ascot in December.

However, the son of Dark Angel is without a win since then, with his best recent effort coming when fourth in a 1600m Benchmark 100 handicap at Flemington last month.

The eight-year-old was beaten under a length that day and went on to finish a good fifth over the same trip in a similar contest at Caulfield on 1st June.

However, he looks vulnerable under top weight, with FLASH FLOOD the pick for the Ciaron Maher team here.

The six-year-old won four times in 2023, including when completing a hat-trick in saluting by a narrow margin in a Benchmark 100 handicap at Moonee Valley in July.

The 9.00 selection raced over the Moonee Valley track and trip that day, but has proven he is adept over shorter distances subsequently.

The pick returned from a spell with a good third in the 1200m Listed Wangoom Handicap when racing on a soft 7 track at Warrnambool on 1st May.

Carleen Hefel's mount is expected to have improved for that first-up effort and, with the extra distance here in his favour, he is taken to register his first win of 2024.

Star to shine in Wingham Cup

The penultimate race on Taree's eight-race card is the 1614m Wingham Cup, a handicap event set to take place on a heavy 10 surface.

Six-time winner That's Molly is expected to have her supporters having taken this race 12 months ago.

The mare has won Coffs Harbour's Sawtell Cup subsequently, with that victory coming over 1515m on a soft 5 track in July last year.

While the five-year-old has won just once this prep, she has been set some stiff tasks with her win coming in a 1400m Class 5 set weights event at Scone in March.

Trainer Glen Milligan boasts a 33% strike-rate (4/12) in the last 30 days and his daughter of Dissident will be looking to help him improve on that in this event.

At bigger odds the in-form WILDERNESS STAR is taken to defy a wide barrier to register a win here, having won twice and placed second once from her last three outings.

All three of those efforts have seen her race from the front at this venue, including when contesting a 1250m Benchmark 58 handicap here on 20th May.

Trained by Annette Lee, the 17.00 mare gets in off a nice racing weight and, while this looks a tougher contest, she should relish underfoot conditions.

The step up in distance is no problem here, having delivered a second-place finish in a track and trip Class 3 handicap held on a heavy 10 track on her penultimate start.

Brave for first up Sunshine Coast success

The sixth race of the day at Sunshine Coast is an interesting Benchmark 65 handicap.

CRAZY BRAVE showed solid form at this track in 2023, including when winning over 1400m in a Benchmark 68 handicap in December.

The 6.50 pick won by a narrow margin that day and followed it up with a good second in a Class 4 handicap held on a soft 7 track over the same course and distance on 26th December.

The four-year-old should have no issues dropping back in distance, having performed well when fourth in a similar race to this over track and trip first up last prep.

Jockey James Orman, on board for his December win here, rides for the first time since then, with the selection having ended his last prep with a fourth over 1350m at Doomben.

Annabel Neasham's representative trialled for this with a fourth at Deagon last month and he looks up to returning with a victory.
