RACE 1 - Tricky contest to kick off the card with a few of these facing the starter for the first time. RUBINOVA (4) just missed the placings here on debut before being tipped out for time to furnish. Revved up for this with a recent Doomben trial victory and should give backers a sight while fresh. Former NSW galloper WARRANT (7) is having his first run for the Vandyke stable and any market confidence must be noted. INTEGRITY LANE (10) next in line.
RACE 2 - KINGSTON'S HERE (2) loves it here on his home circuit with two wins and three placings from eight starts and will strip fitter third-up from the spell. Gets 1.5kg off with the claim and should be in this for a long way. MAHBABY (3) is first-up here but has placed three from four when fresh and is yet to miss a drum in six attempts over this sprint journey. Can run a race while fresh. DARE TO SHARE (5) gets in well at the weights with the claim and rates a genuine top-three contender on best form. KING KLAUS (1) is a five-time winner over this course and distance and cannot be ignored. TORBRECK (4) rounds out the selections.
RACE 3 - LADY LUCIFER (2) just ran into one better over this track and trip when facing the starter for the first time and will have derived a stack of benefit from that day at the races. Maloney sticks in the irons and looks ready to shed the maiden tag. SUPER DAISY (5) hit the top-four in all three starts in her first preparation and has since been given time to mature. No surprise to see her return in winning order. PRINCESS MONEYBAGS (6) failed on debut but was very well supported in the betting. Where there's smoke there's fire and should be kept safe. TALAKAI (11) resumes here but has tuned up for this with a recent Doomben trial and must be respected from the Heathcote stable. Worth including while fresh.
RACE 4 - BIG TICKET BOY (8) resumes here but the form he showed when last in work was more than good enough to feature in a race like this. Should be ready for this with a recent Doomben trial and winning hoop Cartwright sticks. Will be right there when the whips are cracking. SEBRING GIRL (2) has been plying her trade in town of late and will find this drop in grade to her liking. Gets 1.5kg off with the claim and can make her presence felt. MONEY MAN (5) is a two-time winner here and has a handy second-up record. Hard to beat in this suitable race. HANG FIVE (1) will be high on confidence following a last-start victory and is drawn to get a cosy run from the inside marble. In the mix. FIGHTING IDOL (3) best of the rest.
RACE 5 - Monster field. PICKAXE (4) is unlucky to still be a maiden hitting the top-four in six of seven starts to date and strikes a very winnable contest here. Should be near his peak now third-up from the break and can give this a mighty shake. KLANG BOY (3) resumes here but has placed first-up before and gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim. May run a race while fresh. SMOKE 'N' OAKUM (11) has been right there in all four outings to date and gets the services of Orman to navigate from the sticky draw. In the mix with any luck in running. EVERSTAR (7) has been thereabouts in both metro starts and should find this a touch easier. One for the exotics players. Former Victorian NOT A GURU (13) is having her first run for the new stable and any market confidence must be noted.
RACE 6 - SHOT OF WHISKEY (2) returned in winning order with a dominant Toowoomba victory and will have taken a bunch of confidence from that win. Has a win and two placings from four attempts over this track and trip and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. REMLAPS ANGEL (13) is first-up here but has had two recent trials and gets in well at the weights with the claim. Respect from the Vandyke camp. HE'S ESSENTIAL (8) has won first-up before and draws the inside alley. Should be in it for a long way. OSTERBERG (3) saves his best form for this course and distance and cannot be discounted.
RACE 7 - UK import FISHERMAN'S BEACH (9) wasn't too far away in town at his local debut and is sure to derived a stack of benefit from that hit-out. Hails from an astute stable and gets Maloney on top. No surprise to see a strong showing here. SAVILEO (5) doesn't win out of turn but is a consistent commodity hitting the top-five at his past nine outings. Has to be included. FLASH PRINCE (13) has placed around this circuit and draws the inside alley. In the mix. FLAMINGO BEACH (7) has saluted at her past couple and it's hard to ignore mares in form. Respect.
RACE 8 - THREE GONGS (10) has a win and a placing from two attempts at the trip and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Right in this. Former NSW galloper TURBULENT (14) should find this task a bit easier than what he faced down south and may earn some minor money while fresh. CELESTIAL HARBOUR (9) next best with the 3kg claim.
