Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - KETCHIKAN (2) knocked off Moto Moto here three back to break the maiden. Hasn't been as effective more recently but is well placed to bounce back. Is drawn favourably from the inside pillar and is expected to take some reeling in. MOTO MOTO (4) finally got off the mark here last start when arriving just in time to score by a lip. The rise in trip shouldn't bother and he's well placed to go on with the job with Toeroek piloting. WHISKY SOUR (6) clearly went amiss last start when tackling tougher opposition in town. This is much easier and he's aided at the weights with the 4kg claimer on. Can hit back. HOT FLUSH (7) doesn't win out of turn but has been knocking on the door. Worth considering. MILITARY PRESS (3) next best.
RACE 2 - QUEENOFTHEAIR (6) is a three-year-old Trapeze Artist filly on debut for Chris Bieg. Found the line nicely in her sole lead-up trial and has Ben Price sticking. Bright start anticipated. AVANZO (8) is on a 10-day back-up after finishing in the frame over this track and trip. Further improvement to come and she gets a key jockey booking in Jake Toeroek. Main danger. Stablemate I LOVERAIN (3) disappointed on debut at Murray Bridge when sent out favourite. Trialled well in readiness to her first start, so willing to forgive. Can improve sharply. ROUND TWO (5) was an eye-catcher on debut at Murray Bridge a fortnight ago. Will likely drift back again and be charging hardest late.
RACE 3 - REEL WHISKEY (4) looked to be nearing her first win before turning in a poor one against stronger opposition in town last start. Drops back to a more suitable assignment and will appreciate reuniting with Toeroek. Ready to shed the tag. RHINESTONE RORY (5) closed off strongly to just miss last time at Bordertown in a blanket finish. Still has more to offer and is drawn kinder. Right in this. MORLAIX (11) finished alongside Rhinestone Rory last start. Strips fitter third-up and is another that needs to be included. EXTRA BOUNCE (12) is a likely improver in her second start. Deserves a lot more respect this time.
RACE 4 - PERILOUS LASS (11) has missed by the barest of margins in her first two starts. Expected to be at her peak now and will take some stitching. GUMERACHA CRACKER (9) chased gamely into the frame when resuming here last start. Improvement to come and the extra 100m suits from the favourable inside alley. Bold showing anticipated. FAST BUBBLES (1) never looked likely last start when settling a long way back when resuming at Murray Bridge. Drawn ugly again but a better showing is expected. Watch for him charging late. THE ARITHMETICIAN (12) is yet to make an impact this campaign but has come through some solid form races. Keep safe in exotics.
RACE 5 - LEADER'S PRIDE (5) was a nice winner here two back when beating home Rockbarton Road and now meets her slightly better at the weights with the 3kg claimer engaged. Disappointed last start when clearly below his best. Drawn favourably and can bounce back sharply. ROCKBARTON ROAD (9) was a determined winner here over a similar trip earlier in the prep. Hasn't quite gone on with it since but has produced some good efforts in her last two starts. Shoulders a handy record over this trip and is expected to be in the finish. JEWEL DE LUNE (8) found the line nicely when resuming over 1400m at Murray Bridge. Better suited at this distance and gets well at the weights again with the 3kg claimer sticking. Can give this a good shake. AL RANCHERO (3) hasn't been looking after the punters, letting them down in his last two when sent out public elect. Has spent some time out of the winner's circle but is a track and trip winner. Watch for him doing his best work late from the poor draw.
RACE 6 - CHARM SLINGA (6) hasn't had much luck in his two runs back and is going better than his form suggests. Sets up perfectly for him third-up where he's a track and trip winner. Should get all the favours from the low draw and is expected to take plenty of stopping. ALLEGEDLY (3) was no match for an impressive winner last start in town but still did a good job to fill the frame. Rock-hard fit and is drawn perfectly with gun hoop in Toeroek taking over. Main danger. KUSHAN KHANIVALE (1) is another that is going better than his form suggests. Has performed well at this venue and holds appeal on the short turnaround. Can give this a good shake. PETERZANO (8) was a determined winner here two back. Not as effective last start but was still solid. Blinkers going on first time creates interest. Don't dismiss. PRETTY RELIABLE (10) next best.
RACE 7 - WHENTHEDEELINGSDUN (9) didn't give her rivals a sniff here last start when leading pillar-to-post. Plenty to like about that win and there's no reason she can't repeat the dose from the advantageous draw. PRETENTIOUS LASS (11) enjoyed a ratings spike here last start when scoring comfortably. Is a track and trip winner that deserves strong consideration. EVEN SHARPER (3) missed narrowly when resuming at Strathalbyn. Nowhere near as effective last start but has been freshened with a 53- day break. Kept the legs ticking over with a soft Morphettville trial. Capable of bouncing back sharply. SHIKANIC (7) hasn't missed filling the frame this campaign. Drawn ugly but rates among the leading players. Have to include.
