Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Waller-trained AUTORA (2) is third-up and ready to show her best. She went close twice at Doomben this trip last campaign and that form makes good reading. The premier hoop rides for the first time and that's a decent push for her chances. RESURRECTED (1) was knocking on the door in NSW before the switch north by the Neasham-Archibald yard. He ran along at Doomben and faded (Orman rode), and pulled up with an issue at the Sunshine Coast following. He can use the rail and his best efforts would see him right in the finish in the finish. Sharp improvement is anticipated. YOU KAY SQUEEZE (4) is third up with more to offer. She will give away a start but is suited over the longer journey. LADY BOSSA NOVA (10) was on speed and found one better at Toowoomba. Maps well and has a 1.5kg claim. She will be around the mark.
RACE 2 - PICK ZA BEANS (2) has raced in better class at her two most recent. She spaced a 62 field prior and that effort is the best measure of her chances. Maps well and has the blinkers on again. YALLA (6) hasn't won for a while but is right up to this at best. Jones replaces the 3kg apprentice and she will run her along from the inside gate. Metro-trained BLAGNY (5) resumes and will come into her own over further. She's placed fresh and kicking off over the 1670m shouldn't be an issue. Maps well and CGC stays aboard. HIT 'EM UP (3) resumed in good order at Gatton and was heavily backed there following and pulled up with an issue. He maps well and a senior hoop goes on. A winning chance at best.
RACE 3 - The race has changed complexion with the two most likely scratched. SIGLO DE ORO (9) resumes and has switched from a leading Sydney yard. He's trialled well and placed fresh. He's been within range in stronger Maidens and this is winnable. READY FOR THE TRIP (6) debuts for Gollan and is likely to be better than the recent trial finish suggests. Draws okay and has the blinkers applied. Keep very safe. CATALAN COMET (7) improved again narrowly beaten at the Sunshine Coast but faded late there over 1200m following. Peaks now and the shorter sprint suits the on-pacer. DISCOTHEQUE (8) resumes and the market suggests he'll be improved. He has pieces of encouraging form but will need some luck from the awkward barrier. SHAQUE D'AMOUR (14) debuts and has trialled sharply at Doomben. Maps well and Rodd is a key jockey booking. Worth consideration.
RACE 4 - Not unexpectedly it's been smashed by scratchings. The late betting will be instructive. Metro-trained REEMYYA (4) resumes and has switched from a Sydney barn. Her two trials leading into this have been top notch and she has the first-time blinkers applied. Maps well and will give this a shake. ANGELIC BOOM (1) debuts for the premier barn. Has a 2kg claim and she was placed in a recent Doomben trial. She will be well prepared and is likely to race well. TORQUE TOTHE STARS (12) debuts and profiles well. She's also in good hands and has been fitted with three trials. TORERA (19) resumes and pams for the run of the race. She has shown enough to consider.
RACE 5 - A good race. UNO MOON (2) led and belted the 58 graders at Gatton first up and then just missed there heavily bet. Fitter again but he has to manage a wide gate today. Jones replaces the 3kg apprentice and will give the speedy galloper every chance. DAWYN'S CHOICE (5) rates similarly and also runs along. She's also third-up but draws outside the above and also needs a good job. JOEY D'OR (4) resumes and the former Sydney galloper is also good enough. Maps well and is proven fresh. The betting will be key. STAR OF KINGS (1) resumes and is also proven fresh. He needs to find a bit more but will run along from the inside barrier, bringing him into it.
RACE 6 - Competitive. ISLE ORNSAY (8) won her Maiden comfortably at Doomben and followed with a narrow defeat this course/trip when she led. Keeps improving and will get every chance to deliver the hat-trick. SNOW BOUM (13) needed the first-up outing up in class and will be much sharper today. She's likely to control the race and will take pegging back. BANDASHA (1) resumes and brings a trial win and is proven fresh. He'll likely give away a start but can feature with average luck. Dunn-trained stablemate VEANDECHANCE (14) resumes and is proven fresh. She's up to this and look out for her late. HOUSTON ROCKET (4) is second-up and should be around the mark.
RACE 7 - BELVEDERE BOYS (3) resumes for Matt Dunn and brings compelling metro form from Sydney. He was last seen spacing a Randwick CL3 by 4L over 1400m heavily bet. The promising galloper is proven fresh and a gun hoop rides from a handy gate. He should have them well covered. Tougher sorting the rest. SLEIGH QUEEN (13) is third-up and poised to find her best. Resumed here in good order and was cruelled by a wide gate following. She has more to give and maps for the run of the race. The Neasham-Archibald barn has scratched the stablemate. BROKEN HILL (4) has been going around in stronger company. Maps well and he has pieces of form that would see him in the money. GENETIC FREAK (12) wasn't beaten far at Doomben and three back was even better there. He's also a trifecta chance.
RACE 8 - Tough. CHANCE WITH WOLVES (1) won a 62 here three back and then was outgraded at Doomben before a better effort at the Sunshine Coast. A senior hoop goes aboard for the first time this campaign signalling intent. Finds the right race. QUICK SHOT (12) found more like her best beaten a whisker in a CL2 at Gatton over this trip. Peaks now and has the early speed to position forward. BRINGME (4) resumed over 1500m at Warwick and was beaten a nose. Draws out but has more to give and will be hitting the line. SATASHI (10) peaks and finally draws a decent barrier. Her form early doors would see her in the finish. YUKANUMA (5) also rates well enough to consider.
