Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Interesting maiden to kick things off. IFFUBLUSH (3) has had a few goes now, though she's racing in top form as she chased home a smart one here last time out. Pike now hops in the saddle and the draw doesn't hurt as she tends to get back anyway. Racing well and can get the job done this time. POLYVANOVA (8) was scratched from Geraldton on Thursday to race here. She was strong from the front as a 40-1 pop at Belmont last start and this shapes much better for her. Rates well and is sure to put her best foot forward again. PLEASE MIZTER (6) rises in trip for the first time following a 2.7L defeat over 1200m here 13 days ago. He draws to get his chance once again and it wouldn't surprise to see him improve sharply. Likely to feature with the aid of an inside alley. AHREA (7) return in good order when running on from the back as a 100-1 chance at Bunbury. Include.
RACE 2 - DECORATION (2) is racing well at midweek level of late and looks ready for the rise to this grade now. Chris Parnham should get plenty of favours from the inside alley and he continues to improve with racing this time in. Drops slightly in weight and can go one better today. DONT WAIT FOR LUCK (3) has absolutely bolted in his past couple at this course, winning by 3.5L running away last time out. Out to this trip for the first time, though that doesn't appear to be an issue. This looks to set up similarly to recent efforts and he can bring up the hat-trick. UNCOMPROMISED (1) got the job done here two back before running well in town last start as a 25-1 pop. This is easier and the rise in trip doesn't appear an issue. Should be in the finish if he runs to recent figures. MORE THAN ENUFF (6) is a track and trip winner previously and has claims dropping right in weight.
RACE 3 - SECRET ATTRACTION (4) absolutely bolted in last start over 1760m here, winning by 5.2L. He was a good winner over this track and trip prior, and the fact Pike sticks with him is a massive push for his chances. Draws nicely and looks ready to bring up the hat-trick. LORD GANNICUS (1) looks ready to fire third-up following a 1.6L defeat as a 3-1 chance at Belmont. The draw is a little sticky, though he does have enough pace to offset the draw. Out to the mile now suits and he appears the main danger. EXCELTRAIN (2) was in front for a long way last start when beating home Lord Gannicus at Belmont. Fitter again now, though he is 0/2 at this trip. He is trending the right way though and is worth plenty of thought. HIGH PRESSURE (7) can work to the front and take plenty of catching under Fiore. MANAVENDRA (3) is racing well and is sure to be strong to the line.
RACE 4 - FULL OF MERIT (5) resumed in good order at Northam when sticking well from the front, beaten 1.9L as favourite when overrun late. Form out of that has been franked and Pike remaining in the saddle is a good push. Fitter now and looks ideally placed today. KIRALUI (2) ran over the top to score at Bunbury in a CL5 last time out following some good runs at Belmont prior. The draw is a niggle, though she's racing well and still has upside being relatively lightly raced. Can put her best foot forward. SECRET IDENTITY (4) was only 1.3L off the winner in a similar race last start at Belmont and he should be fitter for that effort. Ready to peak now third-up and he is a track and trip winner previously. Nicely drawn and won't be far away. REIGN OF FIRE (1) was good in Open company last start and just missed the start prior. Worth plenty of thought. PEARLY NUGGETT (3) is ticking along nicely without winning and is worth including with Chris Parnham in the saddle.
RACE 5 - INFLUENCING (3) is trending the right way following a 0.5L defeat at Belmont last time out. He's at his top now and his peak ratings have come over this distance in the past. Draws to get every chance for Faithfull who knows him well and with a drop in weight, he'll prove very hard to run down. COLOSSAL (5) has gone back-to-back with Pike in the saddle, sitting on the speed and holding on to score by 0.4L. He is 0/4 at this trip which is a little niggle,, especially with the draw, but if the breaks come his way his recent ratings suggest he'll make his presence felt. ABLOH (4) returned to winning ways 55 days ago when scoring over this course and distance. He is 2/2 at this track and trip and he does perform well fresh. Can stalk the speed and come over the top of them late. NO CHANGE (2) gets back onto a turf course today and the booking of Parnham is a good push for his chances. Include. STARALIGN (1) was huge in defeat last start and is worth plenty of thought.
RACE 6 - EEVALINA (6) closed off well last start over an unsuitable distance following a narrow defeat over 1200m here the start prior. She now gets Chris Parnham in the saddle from barrier 2 and a nice drop in weight. Can get back to her best and that would see her hard to beat. LAQUETTA'S GIFT (3) has improved with every run in this time, finishing just 0.9L off the winner most recently. Pike now hops in the saddle and he has a good record when partnering the mare. Will get back in the run but she's sure to be coming home with a wet sail. DREAMTIME JEAN (5) showed enough on resumption in a CL3 when holding his own. Up in trip is ideal and he is a three-time winner here previously. Expecting further improvement and that should see him go close. DANCE OF THUNDER (4) is ticking along nicely in Open company without winning and appears well placed in this event. GALAXY AFFAIR (2) is better than he showed last start and can bounce back.
RACE 7 - ZAZA ROCK (2) ran away to win comfortably last start at Toodyay over 1850m, scoring by 2.1L. Pike hops back in the saddle now and the rise in trip looks to suit. This is a little tougher, but he looks to be hitting his straps now and he can go back-to-back. QUEEN OF JERUSALEM (1) has been a model of consistency this time in, racing well throughout this campaign. She was only fair at Northam last start, but Turner replaces the apprentice hoop. She may find this a little easier now and a return to winning ways wouldn't surprise. RYEWOOD (4) has run well over 2100m here just three starts ago and has been solid over the shorter distances her past couple. Lucy Fiore hops back in the saddle now and from a favourable alley, she'll be in the finish. DANCING JACK (5) ran on strongly over 1760m last start and draws a better gate this time. Include. ELSUENO (7) steps out to this trip for the first time and has claims on his best form.
RACE 8 - The Kalgoorlie Cup for 2024 and STARRY HEIGHTS (2) deserves to go on top. He's out to this trip for the first time, but he picked up a number of these rivals last start and spat them out, winning by 3.9L running away. Pike remains in the saddle and he is clearly the one to beat. IOWA (5) settle further back than anticipated in the Boulder Cup after being strong from the front earlier this campaign. The trip is no worries for him and if he can dictate from the front, that looks his best chance of winning. Parnham sticking is a big tick and he appears he main danger. STOP DREAMING (7) brings some different form into this as he scored by 0.3L last start at Belmont. Form out of that race has stood up and he may be the knockout chance at the bottom of the weights. ANOTHER CHINO (3) has been ticking along nicely and is worth including in exotics. CAMORRA (1) showed signs of life last start and the trip won't be an issue for him. Not out of this.
RACE 9 - UNDER INFLUENCE (2) bumped into a good one last start at Belmont when beaten 2L in this grade. He now gets Pike in the irons and while the draw is sticky, Pike has ridden him to victory off a similar set up. Has some room for improvement in his ratings, and getting back to his best can see him winning this. PROSPECTOR'S PICK (10) was too good first-up as favourite in midweek company, leading all the way to win by 0.4L. This is a jump in class, though he's lightly raced and rapidly improving. The form out of his last start has stacked up and he's a huge chance down in the weights. SECRET STYLE (12) has loved the move to Kalgoorlie, winning her last four in impressive fashion. This is tougher again, but she should be prominent from the draw and she'll take plenty of catching with no weight on her back. PIN DEEP (4) just keeps on winning and rates highly in this race off his latest effort. SUNNY HONEY (3) hasn't been far away of late and must be included.
