Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - SISU SPIRIT (8) picked up the bit late but just missed on debut over 1200m at Newcastle 18 days ago. Might go forward from the wide gate in a race that lacks genuine pace on paper. Likely to improve over the slightly longer trip and should play a big role. LECONFIELD (5) battled on evenly but just missed the placings when fresh from a spell over 1400m at the Kensington track last start. Not sure coming back in distance is ideal but in a race without much depth he should run a big race. SUPERHERO (11) is a chance first-up from a 130-day spell on the back of a couple of sound recent trials. DIVINE ELLA (1) returns from a 21-week break. Wasn't far away in all three runs during the maiden prep and a big recent trial win suggests she is back in good order. STRONG TRADE (10) is one to keep tabs on first-up from a spell following a gelding procedure.
RACE 2 - THE THREE HUNDRED (3) has really hit his straps this prep. Opened with an eye-catching third at Hawkesbury then went to the front and defied all challengers last time out over this distance at Rosehill. Up in class now but there is certainly room for further improvement so he is up to the task. KOMODO DRAGON (2) started in the red and had every chance but found a couple better last start over 1300m at the Kensington track. That run followed a 39-day break so he will tighten up and the extra 100m is what he needs. DASHING RUPERT (6) has raced twice and won comfortably at Goulburn on each occasion. Different kettle of fish today but respect the Neasham/Archibald yard which is on fire. EVENFLOW (1) returned from a four-month break with a dominant all-the-way win over this distance at Newcastle recently. Has his share of weight but should be prominent again. AYE AYE CAPTAIN (5) impressed first-up at Rosehill and will enjoy the extra furlong at this stage of the prep.
RACE 3 - KADAVAR (5) put the writing on the wall last start when he rallied late to finish just 1.1 lengths behind the in-form Seafall over 1800m at Rosehill. Needs this sort of trip now and Nash taking over from a 3kg claimer suggests this might be D-Day. VAGUER (3) took the lead a fair way out the held on gamely to score over this course and distance recently. It's still early in the prep so he can hold that form. STATE OF AMERICA (6) is on trial at this distance at start 28. Back in form with a dominant win over 1800m at Randwick last start. Cannot be ruled out. FLEET COMMANDER (4) led all the way to score with a bit in hand over 1800m at Hawkesbury recently. In the money three of five at this trip so the longer journey is not an issue. KNIGHTS ARMOUR (9) is second-up from a five-week let-up and has won three from three at this distance so he is certainly one to consider.
RACE 4 - ANOTHER COGNAC (6) started this prep in a positive way at the midweeks then stepped up to Saturday company last start time and struggled over 1100m at Rosehill. The winner of two from two at the Warwick Farm 1000m. Big chance to set the record straight. KIRIBATI (5) was poorly into stride before making late ground to finish fifth last time out over 1100m at Hawkesbury. Very hot and cold this prep but his best form measures up so at the weights he isn't a bad bet at odds. DEHORNED UNICORN (2) is back from a three-month spell. Didn't come up last prep but at his best is a strong Saturday-class galloper. Won a recent trial so things look brighter this time in work. MABEL (3) flies when fresh and this is her trip. Don't leave her out. PISANELLO (8) resumes for Godolphin. Raced well last prep on rain affected tracks. Has come up very short in early markets which isn't appealing, but he is certainly a chance.
RACE 5 - Dual Group 3 placegetter FRENCH ENDEAVOUR (4) has returned in fine fettle. Just missed over 1300m here when resuming two runs back then raced handy and showed a nice turn of foot to score over this trip against the mares at the Kensington track last start. Clearly the measuring stick again. ZOUATICA (2) led all the way and easily accounted for his rivals in this grade over today's trip at the Kenso last time. Ran about three lengths faster than French Endeavour on the same card so his credentials are hard to fault. LOCKDOWN GAMBLE (10) scored with ease as a $2.25 favourite first-up at Dubbo recently. Faces a stiffer test this time but drops 5.5kgs so cannot be ruled out. The speedy EDITED BY (6) led and just failed to hang on over this course and distance last Wednesday. Very fit gelding who will give them something to catch. CRAFTY EAGLE (3) impressed when fresh from a spell last time out but his second-up form is not as good. Maybe one for the wider exotics.
RACE 6 - COSMIC LAD (11) is back from a nine-week break after a Winter campaign was cut short. Lightly raced four-year-old whose peak performance was a 3.4 length defeat in Celestial Legend's Randwick Guineas in March. Can win if forward enough so watch the betting. The speedy SPANISH FOX (3) is ripping through the grades this prep. Made it three wins on the bounce when he came to town and blew away a BM64 field over 1250m at the Kensington track a fortnight ago. Huge chance again. RAPBIDASH (9) made late ground to finish fourth behind Hello World when resuming over this trip at the Kensington track recently. Good second-up performer with plenty of improvement in the locker. RESTONICA (10) gave those who took the tomato sauce some heart palpitations at Newcastle last start but he dug deep when it counted. Big class rise today but he is honest and in the right hands. HELLO WORLD (4) led all the way to win a fortnight ago at the Kenso. Genuine type who must be included.
RACE 7 - Big field and loads of chances. AMBASSADORIAL (1) returned last start with a gutsy win over Anderson Bridge at this course and distance. Just went under in a BM70 at Pakenham second-up last prep. Getting up in the weights but capable of getting the job done again. ANDERSON BRIDGE (16) chased hard but couldn't quite pick up Ambassadorial when he resumed here 16 days ago. Ran a respectable fifth in the Tulloch last prep so his class isn't in question. Big chance with a 1.5kgs weight swing today. LIKE A TIGER (3) turned in a creditable performance over 1400m at Rosehill three weeks back when returning from a 15-month absence. This trip is more his thing. Definite contender. LADY SUPERSPY (17) loves the mile and is in career-best form this time in work. Gets all the favours from the inside draw and is worth a speculator at big odds. INTERJECTION (15) wasn't disgraced at Listed level last start and is in the mix despite taking on older horses.
