Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - DOLCEMENTE (2) capitalised here third-up after kicking off the prep with two promising efforts. Up in the weights this time as she tackles a similar challenge on the quick turnaround. Can settle closer from the inside alley and is sure to be very competitive. SAVSONIC (3) finished full of running when beaten less than a length by Dolcemente here last week. Meets the winner with a kilo weight swing in her favour and is drawn well. Main danger. CYCLONE HARMONY (1) lengthened nicely to record a handy win at Bairnsdale at the latest. Tougher this time but can measure up. THERE GOES MY HERO (4) progressed sharply second-up when knuckling down gamely to score at Gawler. Open to further improvement third-up and is worth some thought. DARTBOARD (6) is ticking along superbly this campaign as he shoots for the hat-trick. Can't ignore.
RACE 2 - METRICAL (6) was an eye-catcher when resuming on the Parks three weeks ago, launching late to snatch third. Is sure to have come on with that run under the belt and gets the chance to take closer order from the inside alley. Can give the shorty a right scare. TOP CALIBRE (2) was a very impressive debut maiden winner at Bairnsdale. Looks to have his share of ability and will be giving himself every chance on speed. LIMITED RISK (5) has been hard to fault of late. Kept fresh with four weeks between runs and has enough early dash to offset the sticky draw. Can give backers a sight. Similar story for LIMBERING (10) who is also ticking along nicely. Gets a key booking in Nunes and is worth respecting.
RACE 3 - PRESSER (3) put the writing on the wall last start at Moe when beaten a neck. This looks an easier assignment as he crosses the border and gets a key booking in Holder. Expect him to be very competitive. MERCHANT BOSS (7) has rediscovered his best form. Has proven a versatile type, expecting Price to utilise the low draw and inject him into the race. Loves this trip and is an obvious threat. HASSELTOFF (5) never looked likely first-up when getting a long way back but also didn't have much luck in the lane when searching for clear running. Could land in another tricky spot from the inside draw but with even luck he can give this a shake. BUBBLE OVER (8) doesn't win out of turn but is going better than her form suggests. Gets a key switch in Nunes taking the reins from the inside alley. Gets her chance to break a long run of outs. NURYS (10) boasts strong formlines this prep with a stack of subsequent winners around her. Worth another chance.
RACE 4 - PROVEN CORRECT (3) came along nicely second-up when holding on gamely into second. Fitter again and should be nearing his peak now. Just needs some luck from the draw. AWESOME LINEUP (4) picked up in great style to work over the top and score at Cranbourne last start. Carries more weight this time but deserves more respect. THERMODYNAMIC (6) made a mess of his rivals fresh when scoring on the Parks surface. Treating with some caution second-up but he does profile strongly. Repeat dose won't shock. IT'SBRUCE (1) was much better last start at Echuca when launching late to score. Could find himself in a tricky spot from the inside alley. Watch out for him if the gaps appear. LOMAX (2) is another to keep an eye out for late in the piece.
RACE 5 - Nice race. PURE AQUA (1) lugged the big weight fresh in a similar contest, rattling off the meeting's fastest 600m when beaten 0.9L in third three weeks ago. Thought she held serious claims for the Schweppervescence in Cup week, this is obviously easier. Likely to drift back from the draw but is sure to be getting involved late. IMMORTAL BLISS (7) didn't muck around on debut, leading pillar-to-post. Tougher now but will give punters another bold sight. BAY OF PORTLAND (4) was doing her best work late when finishing alongside Pure Aqua last start. Will be making his run with her again. DANCING STORM (2) returns. Followed a similar pathway to to Pure Aqua in his debut prep. Has his share of ability and is another one of the chances.
RACE 6 - BEAUTY BOUND (10) has been super in her two runs back without getting the verdict. Peaking now and is a serious winning hope. GLOBAL TURN (12) returns and while she's yet to score fresh her lead-up trial suggests she'll be forward enough to give this a big shake. Is another that will go back from the wide barrier. Watch for her charging late. SHARENDIPITY (11) has improved with each run under her belt this campaign. Cherry-ripe now and will be closer to the speed than her main dangers. Right in this. OVERSTATED (2) couldn't fire second up over 1100m at this track after winning when fresh from a spell at Morphettville Parks. Look for an improved run here,
RACE 7 - BIG STORY (6) looked the winner here two weeks ago but just peaked on his run late. Gets weight off with the rise in grade. Expect Nunes to take him back again but will be launching late. CULLEN SKINK (7) turned things around nicely here last start when missing narrowly. Has his share of ability and is drawn nicely. Can measure up again. YURI ROYALE (3) is another that has been much better in his last two. Rates highly on best figures and will prove tough to stop if he brings his A-game. CRIMSON VINE (5) is yet to show his best this campaign but there's a bit under the bonnet. Watch for sharp improvement fourth-up.
RACE 8 - DEEPFLOAT DIVA (9) disappointed here two weeks ago when only managing to finish fifth. Much of a muchness with Nunes replacing Toeroek. Promising type that can hit back in a big way. SIR SWAY (3) was good fresh when scoring here. His next three starts have all been over the border, running into some above-average types. Was far from disgraced last start at Caulfield when narrowly missing the frame. That puts him in great stead for this. GREAT MAXIMUS (10) is another promising type from the R & C Jolly camp resuming. Hasn't been seen at public trials but is unbeaten fresh and is expected to make a bright return. THE GREAT BABY (5) beat home a few of these fresh when charging hard late to grab second. Rises slightly in the weights but is a likely improver. SIXTEEN REASONS (4) often bundles the start but has a nice turn of foot on her day. Watch for her doing her best work late again. WINNING REVOLUTION (6) has struck some form and can keep it going. Don't underestimate.
RACE 9 - HOOKED ON WEALTH (7) bounced back nicely last start here when charging home to just miss in a blanket finish. Kept fresh for this with four weeks between runs and will appreciate reuniting with Crowther who scored an impressive win on him second-up. Bold showing is anticipated. AZTEC DANCER (13) lacks tactical speed but possesses a lethal turn of foot. Has contested some hot-form races this campaign. Will have them worried late. OAKLAND RAIDER (4) will appreciate getting some weight off after fading late in the piece second-up. Fitter now and is drawn to advantage. Will be in this for a very long way. RUNAWAY BELLE (11) resumes and is Listed placed. Draws to get the gun run and strips fitter for lead-up trial win. No surprise to see her feature. HOT OFF (1) drops back in trip off a 35-day break for his third-up assignment. Kept the legs ticking over with a trial in between. Holds appeal.
