Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - STECARA (5) is knocking on the door. Put another solid performance under her belt here last start when fighting on gamely into the placings after being sent forward. Should be prominent again from the low draw with Neindorf sticking. Ready to get off the mark. CRIMINAL ART (2) wasn't far away first-up at Balaklava when finishing fourth, just lacked a fitness edge late. Better for the hit-out and gets help at the weights with the 2kg claimer engaged. Will just need some luck from the wide alley. BALISTIQUE (6) is a Smart Missile filly on debut for the Clarken & O'Shea partnership, who have a solid record with first starters. Has trialled up nicely in readiness and can make her presence felt. ICANHEARZOU (10) should improve from her debut effort and is one for the exotics.
RACE 2 - COMMISSIONS (1) put the writing on the wall here last start when beaten a head after being sent forward. Will hunt across early from the draw under Pannell and should prove very tough to reel in. GLACIES HEART (10) was much better last start at Clare when closing off sharply into the frame. Mixes her form but a repeat effort will see her threaten. THE TANK (6) showed good tactical speed last start at Balaklava and gave roughie backers a great sight. Draws kinder this time and should look to roll forward again to give himself his best chance. THAVMA (5) has only been fair since returning in three runs but strips fitter now and should be hitting his straps. GINGERBREAD BOY (2) only warmed to his task very late in the piece when resuming at Clare. Keeping safe from the better draw.
RACE 3 - TERRITORIAN (14) has left himself with too much to in both runs back but has found the line nicely. Strips fitter and should be hitting his straps now. Leading player. PETROL HEAD (13) failed to live up to market expectation on debut at Gawler when always well back. Blinkers go on now and stable hoop Toeroek takes over from the inside alley. Expecting sharp improvement. MAHENO (6) lacks tactical speed but is one to watch for charging late. The booking of Holder reads favourably. ROB THE BANK (7) stuck on soundly into fourth when resuming at Balaklava. Is sure to have come on with that run under the belt and is in the mix.
RACE 4 - NAVIGLI (2) showed good tactical speed here last start and went on with job impressively in the lane to shed her maiden tag. Rises slightly in the weights but is drawn to advantage from the inside pillar. No reason she can't repeat the dose. OFF THE CUFF (9) drove hard to fend off challengers at Murray Bridge 3 days ago. Is open to further improvement fourth-up and gets in well at the weights. Can give this a good shake. OPPORTUNE CHANCE (4) finished behind Off The Cuff last start. Is mixing his form but holds intrigue on rapid turnaround. Best figures stack up. SERENE MOON (3) is yet to threaten in three runs back but now gets blinkers on first time. Keeping safe.
RACE 5 - SADLER'S SONG (8) doesn't win out of turn but will appreciate the drop in grade. Has only missed the frame once here from 4 attempts and is drawn to get all the favours with in-form hoop Neindorf piloting. Leading player. HOBO BOB (1) has been well below his best in his last two against tougher company. Shoulders a superb record over this track and trip, only missing once from 5 starts. Potter reunites and has saluted on 3 occasions when partnering. Sharp bounce back anticipated. LYNDA'S LEGACY (3) was much better last start at Naracoorte when closing off strongly into fourth after settling rearward. Should eat up the extra ground and gets in low at the weights with the 3kg claimer sticking. Likely to threaten. RED SEQUOIA (5) is another who has been out of sorts but is much better placed back in this grade. Don't dismiss.
RACE 6 - FIZIQUE (1) will appreciate the drop in grade and boasts a strong record over this track and trip. Is aided at the weights with the claimer engaged and will prove hard to beat if he brings his A-game. SALUTE THE STARS (7) hasn't won for a very long time but continues to knock on the door. Has placed in 5/7 at this track and trip and gets in well at the weights with the 3kg claimer engaged. Gets another great chance to break a long run of outs. UNISPHERE (13) is yet to get off the mark but put the writing on the wall last start at Gawler when charging home into the frame over a similar trip. Watch for another barnstorming finish. CHANTISS (12) is ticking along nicely now, going close to making it two on the bounce here last start after being sent forward. Should look to do the same.
RACE 7 - ALFANO (1) returns and strips fitter for two solid hit-outs in readiness. Worth noting he was only beaten a head at Murray Bridge when resuming last campaign, so can run well fresh. Gets a key booking in Holder and is expected to prove hard to beat. SHISUTA BO (7) put the writing on the wall last start when beaten a head at Balaklava. Has good early speed and is drawn favourably for Pannell. Main danger. KONG (3) has been below his best recently but his best efforts stack right up. Don't dismiss. LUCILLE ROSE (12) doesn't win out of turn but rates highly on best figures. Keeping safe.
