Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - SILVER CHAOS (14) showed good tactical speed on debut when leading them up, only to be grabbed on the line at Clare. Is sure to have come on with that run under the belt and carries a feather on her back with the 3kg claimer engaged. Leading contender. SUMAMBISTARR (11) returns. Showed positive signs in her debut prep, most notably when beaten a long neck on debut at Balaklava. Draws favourably and can give this a big shake. GOLD SPY (3) finds the maiden win elusive but it certainly hasn't been without trying. Hasn't done a great deal wrong this prep and strips rock-hard fit. Drops back in trip and is expected to be doing his best work late. CROWN AND ANCHOR (1) also returns and while he's found it tough to get off the mark there are efforts last campaign that stack right up for this. Will be looking for further but finds a nice kick-off point. FANCY SHOULDER (7) strips fitter third-up and gets a key booking in Holder. Keeping safe.
RACE 2 - STECARA (12) has been super of late without breaking through. Put the writing on the wall last start when captured late after showing good early toe. Has fitness on her side and is the one to beat. TERRITORIAN (8) was an eye-catcher fresh at Balaklava, then again left himself too much to do last start when closing off nicely into the frame. Should be nearing his peak now and draws his best gate yet. Main danger. GARCON RENARD (7) only warmed to his task late on debut at Gawler. Blinkers go on to help him focus. Has a tricky draw to contest but is a likely improver. GLACIES HEART (10) is mixing her form but her best figures measure up. Worth keeping safe in exotics.
RACE 3 - ZION'S GATE (5) returns. Has found it tough to get off the mark but has turned in some handy efforts. Rates highly on best figures and gets a key booking in leading SA hoop Rochelle Milnes. Can make a bright return. AM I THE DRAMA (8) is on the rapid back-up and is going better than her form reads. Expect her to be hitting her straps now over the slightly longer trip. Bold showing is anticipated. GABBATRON (9) is another one that returns. Showed some ability in her second start when sticking on gamely into the frame at Strathalbyn. Pannell piloting reads favourably but he will need to give a smart steer from the draw. ARLO'S DREAM (6) was better last start when finishing fifth at Gawler. Is open to further improvement third-up and Opperman sticking is a positive. Not without his chance.
RACE 4 - DETORON (8) is ticking along nicely and finds another nice race for her. Narrowly missed last start at Murray Bridge when missing by a long neck, the effort will measure right up for this. Added trip calls for no concern and she draws to get all the favours. Leading player. THINK TANK (6) put the writing on the wall last start at Murray Bridge when beaten a lip, bettering Detoron by a head. Less consistent as the top pick but definitely deserves consideration off that performance. AMBER NOOK (7) didn't give her rivals a sniff at the latest when leading pillar-to-post to finally shed her maiden tag. Has enough early dash to offset the wide alley and there's no reason she can't go on with it now. RIVOLI VIEW (5) was a determined winner two back at Gawler, then was far from disgraced last start. Holds claims on best figures.
RACE 5 - Good contest. COURS VITE (2) has come along nicely this campaign, adding consecutive placings after scoring three back in a similar grade. Cherry-ripe now and only needs to hold his form to be fighting out the finish. SANDASTAN (1) has been well below his best in his last two when tackling tougher opposition. Is capable of a much better performance back in this grade where he's a course and distance winner. Main danger. ESKY (3) was a determined winner fresh at Gawler in what has proven a strong form race. Was disappointing second-up but bounced right back to the mark last start at Balaklava. Holder piloting is a good push. SPEC RAIDER (6) made light work of her rivals last start at Strathalbyn. Shoulders a handy record over this trip and is among the key chances.
RACE 6 - AUSSIE PHAROAH (5) was a sharp improver second-up when chasing gamely into a narrow second. Strips fitter on the quick turnaround as he steps out in trip. Draws well and gets in low at the weights again with the 4kg claimer sticking. Bold showing is anticipated. SALUTE THE STARS (8) hasn't saluted for a very long time but continues to knock on the door. Matches top figures and will surely get the nod soon. EASY BEAST (2) is another that will look to give himself every chance up on the speed. Should be in this for some way. HAYAI MESU (10) has been finishing thereabouts and deserves consideration.
RACE 7 - LAKE AGAWAM (7) was a clear eye-catcher fresh when rattling home to just miss Real Valentia. Is sure to have come on with that run under his belt and is drawn to take closer order. Well placed to make a long-awaited return to the winner's circle. PRANCE 'N' DANCE (8) has gone better than the form reads to start the campaign and should be hitting his straps now fourth-up. Is on the quick back-up and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Don't take lightly. JIMMYS EDGE (5) impressed last start when leading go-to-woah at Naracoorte. Tougher this time but deserves serious consideration. REAL VALENTIA (4) loves his racing and has been doing plenty of it. Drops back in trip on short-turn around and holds genuine claims on best figures but will need some luck from the draw.
RACE 8 - FIRST TOSEN (8) progressed nicely second-up at Naracoorte when chasing gamely into the placings behind a nice winner. Nearing his peak now and Crowther sticking is positive. Bold showing is anticipated. CHARLESFORT (1) has returned in great order this campaign and is busting to break through. Rise in trip shouldn't bother and he's a key player. GOGOLF GURU (11) is yet to strike through this campaign but has turned in some sound efforts. The form around her has stacked up with plenty of subsequent winners. Don't dismiss. Last start winner OFF THE CUFF (14) also deserves respect and is in the mix.
