Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - STREET GLORY (2) is an honest commodity who has hit the top-five at her past 12 starts and doesn't know how to run a bad race. Is yet to miss a drum in three attempts over this course and distance and should be right there when the whips are cracking. ROY'S ROAD (3) is a two-time winner around this circuit and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Looms as the main danger. LEICA BITA FUN (5) has only missed a place once in seven starts at this track and rates a genuine top-three contender on best form. KEFALONIA (1) best of the rest in a race with only a handful of chances.
RACE 2 - One for the babies. BOLLA BOLLA BABE (2) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing in all three starts to date and strikes a winnable contest here. Two of those placings have come over this track and trip and looks the one they all have to run down. GYMNOSOMATA (5) was well in the betting at Cairns on debut and where there's smoke there's fire. Solid top-three proposition with natural improvement. EASY GOING GIRL (4) is facing the starter for the first time and any market confidence must be noted. NEV (3) rounds out the selections at odds.
RACE 3 - Former Hong Kong galloper LUCKY STRONG (2) looked handy finishing runner-up over this track and trip at his first local outing and will have derived a stack of benefit from that hit-out. Looks good enough to shed the maiden status against this lot. PLAY IT AS IT LAYS (12) has been thereabouts in recent efforts and is drawn to get a cosy run in transit from gate two. Rates a serious threat. THORMENDOUS MISS (13) resumes here but the form she showed in her first preparation was good enough to feature in a race like this. Can run a race while fresh. LATIN LOVE (8) strips fitter second-up from the spell and should sit on speed and give backers a sight. IRISH ROCKET (7) is at the races for the first time but has shown ability at the trials and any market confidence must be respected.
RACE 4 - RUN AWAY RENEE (5) couldn't have been more impressive saluting at Rockhampton on debut before being tipped out for time to furnish. Tuned up for this with two recent trials and winning hoop Stanley sticks in the stirrups. Has plenty of upside and can go right on with the job now. OBLIGATED (1) saves his best form for his home circuit here with three wins and a second from six outings. Will be rock-hard fit for this and can play a major role in the outcome. POWER OF KATIE (4) has a win and a second from three attempts at this distance range and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Genuine top-three credentials. Former NSW galloper SIMPLY DIVINE (11) is having her first run for the new stable and any market support must be noted. ALLEZ PARIS (7) doesn't win out of turn but is usually thereabouts and looks one for the exotics players.
RACE 5 - BENCOOLEN (6) returned to the winners' stall here at the latest effort and is sure to have taken a bunch of confidence from that victory. Is two from two around this circuit and winning rider Butler sticks in the saddle. Rates the testing material. SUNNYCOAST (4) didn't measure up in town last time out but go on the two strong wins prior. Will find this assignment much more to his liking and a return to form would not shock. LEADERSHIP SPILL (2) has placed eight of 11 over this course and distance and gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim. Definite top-three candidate. SWEET KISSES (11) is first-up here but the form she showed in her initial campaign was good enough to be worth serious consideration in a race like this. Gets Wiggins on board from the inside alley and cannot be ignored while fresh. RUBUNKAR (10) best of the rest.
RACE 6 - Looks a wide open affair. WIN AND TONIC (9) doesn't win out of turn but has hit the top-four in seven of his past eight starts and is usually thereabouts. Ready to peak now fourth-up from the spell and gets the services of Wiggins in the irons. Will give this a mighty shake. FLYING MAPLE (10) has won two of three this time in work and it's hard to knock mares in form. Has to be included in calculations. BARNEY RABBLE (3) has been right there in all three runs this campaign and is a must for the multiples. AIDENABET (11) next in line from the inside marble.
RACE 7 - Former Victorian SILVER HAMMER (8) couldn't have been more impressive saluting at Ipswich in his first run in the state and will have taken some confidence from that win. Has since switched to the Bell yard and any market support must be respected highly. ROTHFURY (9) shed the maiden tag over this track and trip last time out and winning hoop Satherley sticks in the saddle. Drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley and should give backers a sight. Former Godolphin galloper FORTRESS AUSTRALIA (3) is having his first run for the new stable but tuned up for this with a recent trial placing and will find this easier than what he faced down south. In the mix while fresh. ELECTRIC BRAE (14) has placed around this circuit and is usually thereabouts. Top-three contender. HOLY CROWN (11) has placed two of three over this course and distance and may earn some minor money again.
RACE 8 - IN EVIDENCE (5) saves his best form for this circuit with three wins and a second from just four outings and will find this much easier than what he faced last time out. Strips fitter third-up from the break and is drawn to get a soft run in transit from gate two. Will be right there when the judge calls a halt. LETMELETGO (4) got the chocolates over this course and distance at the latest effort and gets in well at the weights with the 1.5kg claim. Has to be included in calculations. The well-related BRASCO (12) (half to G2 winner Blueberry Hill) has hit a purple patch of form of late with a win and three placings from his past four starts. Cannot be underestimated. MOOLOOLABA (10) resumes but has placed two from four when fresh and should be hitting the line with gusto. STARSONIC (3) is a four-time winner here and this grade is more to his liking. Can bounce back to form against this lot.
RACE 9 - EUROMANTIC (11) doesn't win out of turn but is usually thereabouts. Drawn to get a cosy run in transit and gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim. Looks well placed here so expect another consistent performance. LADY MASQUERADE (7) has placed at her past three outings and is racing very consistently of late. Looms as the main danger. RICH DIVINITY (4) should sit on speed and will give backers a sight. MISSION HOUSE (1) best of the rest with the claim.
