Waller: Beiwacht has no excuse for why he can't win Coolmore

The Chris Waller trained Beiwacht is $3.90 (with Sportsbet) for the three-year-old Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The son of Bivouac has had an unreal spring carnival so far including a 4.14 length victory in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m), where the colt broke the track record.

Now being fourth-up, the bay appears to be excellently prepped for the Group 1 sprint on the weekend.

The champion trainer even admitted that the three-year-old will have no excuses as to why he can’t win.

“What he did in the Golden Rose was special – he broke the track record,” Waller told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.

“His ratings are through the roof.

“So, it’s our job to simulate that and get him close to it again.

“He had a jump out down the straight last Friday, he was great.

Adam Hyeronimus sticks with him – he’s a really good, in-form jockey.

“There’s no reason why he can’t (win), it looks a good Coolmore field though.”

On top of Beiwacht, Waller will also saddle up Skyglider in the Group 1, who is currently $16.

When Gareth Hall questioned if the unbeaten last-start winner can emerge victorious in the stallion-making race, the trainer admitted his chances were limited.

Waller: “We’re bringing another one down too – Skyglider!”

“It’s only his third start in a race.

Hall: “Can he win?

Waller: “Probably can’t, but we’re bringing him down."

Hall: “Why then?

Waller: “Because he’s a colt and it’s a $20 to $30 million result."

Hall: “You may as well have a throw at the stumps."

Waller: “Exactly.”
