"What a filly!": Strictly Business claims Crown Oaks

The VRC Crown Oaks has been run, with Strictly Business claiming a stellar Group 1 win at Flemington.

In her first G1 race, the three-year-old filly came steaming home, winning by three lengths in a stunning run under jockey John Allen for trainer Thomas Carberry.

The Oaks was just the fourth career start for the daughter of Grunt who only knocked off her maiden at Ballarat on October 24.

She turned the tables after running second to Getta Good Feeling in last Saturday's Wakeful Stakes.

The Pearls and After Summer rounded out the top three, while $1.70 favourite Getta Good Feeling finished in sixth.

"What a filly!" Allen said post-race.

"She went on to win a maiden less than two weeks ago. What a brilliant performance by Tommy. Unbelievable!

"We'll be talking about this for years. Unbelievable training performance. Tommy is a neighbour of mine, he only lives two doors down for me, and he is a great horse man, he comes from a family of great horsemen. Unreal!

"She's got no early speed, so we weren't going to change tactic today. We just went back to last, held the rail as long as we could. We were following the right horse into the straight, I knew when they started making their moves at the 600, she was no worries of running the trip.

"It's hard to know how far she can go. What she's been able to do in such a short time, I don't think there's many Fillys that would be able to do that."
