BET OF THE DAY (Sydney)

NEWCASTLE - Race 5 No.4 - MERIDIANA - Top return win then back, in traffic before flying home Randwick latest. Yes 1600m and settles closer here. Only flop was on heavy ground. Top-pick!

BEST VALUE BET OF THE DAY

CAULFIELD - Race 10 No.8 - STYLISH - Resumes. Won BM70 nicely fresh last prep beating Prevailed who then had good form around De Bergerac/ Persian Spirit. Home hard in latest trial. Looks some value $9 early too.

Group 1 analysis

CAULFIELD: Race 8 - G1 CF Orr Stks - WFA - 1400m

5 - ANGEL CAPITAL - Only clear last 500m here in fast Rupert Clarke and flew at the line. Back to 1200m in Everest and outsped but so strong over line. Back out to 1400m here the key.

1 - JIMMYSSTAR - Wide/ Excellent on that Everest then had softer run back a notch latest and demolished them! The last time he was at 1400m he won G1 All Aged at WFA.. Such a good horse.

2 - EVAPORATE - Liked his finale in Golden Eagle and right with Rupert Clarke winner there Sepals so it all ties in.

7 - VINROCK - Had chance latest but Observer has franked form and 3yo ran well in that Everest. Trifecta hope.

4 - PINSTRIPED - Solid latest and he too has claims exotics.
