Who is the best 2YO in Australia?

With Australia’s biggest two-year-old sprint done and dusted for 2026 – the $5 million Golden Slipper – the question beckons: Who is Australia’s best two-year-old?

Guest House has a seat at the table in the debate after winning the Golden Slipper, while Streisand is sitting opposite him thanks to her Blue Diamond heroics and second-placed finish in the Slipper.

Speaking on SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up, Gareth Hall attempted to split the pair but couldn’t.

“If I had to give out the best two-year-old, it would definitely be Streisand after what I saw there (in the Slipper),” Hall stated.

“Guest House is a star, and he was unlucky probably in a Blue Diamond, and he won brilliantly there (in the Slipper).

“I guess it would be a tie, Guest House and Streisand for me.”

Respected form analyst Grace Hayes chimed in on the conversation, explaining that she understands Gareth’s point, but she would likely have the filly on top.

“I understand what you're saying, and it is a little bit stiff on Guest House because he won the Golden Slipper, but Streisand was so huge in defeat there,” Hayes said.

“She was right on speed in that brutal tempo, like it's a race where she was absolutely entitled to weaken to the line and finish third or fourth.

“But the way that she stuck on, it took a really good one to actually catch her and go past her.

“She could be number one.”

Adding a differing opinion to the debate, Will Bourne, the Head of Bloodstock for Ciaron Maher Racing, was adamant that the son of Home Affairs is ahead of Streisand.

“He should have won the Blue Diamond, then he bolted in in the Golden Slipper, so Guest House is the best two-year-old.” Bourne explained.

“He can really earn a lot of prize money if he goes to an Everest or whatever he wants to do for the next 12 months.

“He was really powering (in the Slipper), I think 1400m will be no issue as well.”

With Gareth Hall having the pair split, Grace Hayes having Streisand on top, and Will Bourne with Guest House, the debate is still wide open.
