Maher stable update: What's the spring plan for the big guns?

By Connor Scanlon

Gun trainer Ciaron Maher has provided an update on some of the star horses from his stable.

From Tempted attacking the Everest to The Next Episode targeting a Coolmore Stud Stakes, Maher has run through a few of his jets.

See Maher’s stable update below:

Tempted

“Tempted is in good order,” Maher told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.

“She's at Warwick Farm and prepping up well towards an Everest.

“Everything seems to be going along nicely at the moment.”

Pride Of Jenni

“Jenni, she's back to the stable shortly.”

“She had a super winter carnival, I thought. Tony (Ottobre) and the team have kept her nice and active for an older mare.

“It’s pretty surreal to think that she's heading into another spring carnival as a nine-year-old.

“I thought her races in the winter carnival were as good as what she can do. She had little things against her like winds and tracks, but I thought she was super.

“I'm really looking forward to getting her back in the barn shortly, but she probably heads to a race like the Feehan (into the Empire Rose). See if she can get some three-peats.”

Jimmysstar

“Jimmy trials next week, he's in good order,” stated Maher.

“He has a slightly different path this year, but he's in great order.

“We could stretch out a little bit further (to race him in a King Charles instead of the Everest), so good options to have.”

The Next Episode

“The Next Episode, he's progressive. He's in training at Warwick Farm."

“I don't think (we’ll target the Golden Rose), I think we'll concentrate on the Coolmore. So, he'll be down to Victoria at some stage. He’s really well.”

Others

“We had quite a few trial on Wednesday at Gosford," revealed Maher.

"Light Infantry Man trialled very well, Gringotts trialled super, Mr Monaco, Juja Kibo, the horses for the staying races (also trialled).

“We've got a good team, prepping up, heading towards the spring.”
