Wednesday best bets from Luke, Taggart & Pfitzner (29/07)

The lads have taken a close look at Sandown, Randwick Kensington & Belmont in a bid to find the family some winners.

SANDOWN

Race 3 | 2. Stay Silent

Seven day backup for this bloke who had no luck last start when posted three wide and still was OK through the line. Nice inside gate today means he'll be able to put on be on speed without being posted and that's a big plus. Gets up a little in trip to the 1500m which again is a tick, the 3kg claim from Jabez Johnstone also a win and track conditions will suit him perfectly. I think he'll be able to dictate a lot easier than last week and be very hard to get past.

Race 4 | 4. Tempranillo

Both runs this prep have been fast races and last start she sat OSL and looked beaten before coming again on the line. This sets her up nicely for 1600m third-up from a perfect gate. She will be on speed and in a better spot and closer than the fav Blue Willow. Handles all track conditions and her speed map has her right in the mix. Best of the day in Melbourne!

Race 7 | 2. Beechworth

The fav clearly is a nice type and progressive but $2 is too short and I am with Beechworth. Had a crack in town and was pretty good chasing Cruiserweight and Celtics and that was after a nice win resuming (second is fav in R6). Stays for second crack at 1400m and I like that setup. Toe into the ground no drama and the gate will allow John Allen to watch the race unfold early. (Eton/Fiddler ect to make sure there is speed). Fav goes into the the quaddie as she might just be too classy but expect this bloke to run really well and I'd rather than the $2.30 the place even the $1.80 the win for Matilda.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON

Race 1 | 6. Crown Of Fire

Just needed to get off the rails on debut and once she did she was pretty decent. She will learn from that, hit a little flat spot before savaging the line which makes me think the step up to 1550m works today. Drawn well to box seat and with a little luck can break the maiden. Artgirl and Claudel go in the early quaddie but both have been a little reluctant to savage the line in their early racing days.

Race 4 | 2. Deep Pleasure

Beaten by a better horse last start who went on to win Saturday. Speed maps perfectly from that gate and will again be right on speed. Drying track and back 50m to the 1550m is a tick. Quicker turnaround (LS was 1300-1600m off three weeks) this is a better set up. Claim works. I've backed her a few times this prep but this race lacks a little depth and she finds her race. My best of the day in Sydney!

Race 5 | 7. Charleroi

The favoured horses come out of the same race and I think this horse has the scope to improve out of sight. Goes better third-up and didn’t have any room to let down last start. He is bigger boy so needs some room so hopefully he is on the outside of horses when making is run. Track conditions no issue and a small weight swing helps him here. The speed will be on with Champagne Hero drawn inside gate so should allow this bloke to get cover and a nice trail. A few go into the quaddie but I think Charleroi has a bunch of scope to improve and run very well.

Race 2 | 4. Weapon Clear

Looked home here last start for a few strides after leading them up and staying to the inside which may of cost him. Draws pole to jump straight on the bunny and lead all the way.

Race 4 | 7. Blue Willow

Has been missing the kick of late and if she’s to do it again this is only a small field of eight where she draws the outside. Has been frustrating but she should be winning this.

Race 8 | 1. Taka Speed

Will find this much easier than what he has of late. Form reads very well through First Chorus finishing 2.3L off her and she won again Saturday.

RANDWICK KENSINGTON

Race 3 | 12. Threads (value)

Has had a couple of quiet trials resuming. Was tipped out after running third in the Black Opal won by Music Time who then ran third in the Slipper. That form is good enough for this but will need a little luck from the draw.

Race 4 | 2. Deep Pleasure

Her form is looking very good now after Satono Jasmine keeps on winning like she did Saturday. Draws pole and she will get away with a very cheap lead if she wants.
