Thursday best bets from Luke & Hyland (06/08)

By SENTrack

Cam Luke & Sam Hyland have your Thursday sorted on Trackside.

The lads have taken a close look at Ballarat Synthetic, Gosford, Moree & Mt Isa in a bid to find the family some winners.

See their best bets below:👇

Cam Luke

BALLARAT SYNTHETIC

Race 2 | 5. Prestige Zerprise

Can make an excuse for him not to have finished closer last start at Echuca and gets back to the syntho up in trip which is a huge plus. Should be ready to peak third up, drawn nicely to stalk the speed but not be pushed to the fence and in a race lacking in depth I think he will be very hard to beat.

Race 5 | 1. Spirited Defence

This bloke just loves the Ballarat synthetic. Has won third up before, well drawn to be able to get cover and get into a groove and I think can turn the tables on Shaalute from last start where a few of these horses come out of that race. I think he has more scope for fitness being a run behind in the prep and that will be the difference.

Race 8 | 6. Watt On Earth

Is drawn a little awkwardly but he won incredibly impressively two starts back in a similar race when drawn badly as well. He then went into town and ran OK in a really good race which was much stronger than this. The drop back in trip isn't an issue and might work for him as is their some speed expected (Life Sentence/Pharaoh's Glory). I'd like him to get a little more cover than he did two back but the way he savaged the line makes me think he can run a huge race again.

GOSFORD

Race 5 | 6. Dietrich

The money has come and she is as short as I'd want her at $2.80 but she does run well fresh and she trialled quite nicely considering she wasn't asked to break any records. She loves the firm deck, she always runs well here on her home track and the two kg claim will be a bonus, I think she might squeeze forward in a race lacking a fair bit of depth and be on speed and she will be very hard to beat.

Race 6 | 13. Street Lyric

This race doesn't have much cream and this girl albeit a little disappointing in her debut run before being tipped out is the type of girl who looks more progressive and classier than anything else in the field. The run at Muswellbrook was a little flat but that race was way better than this, she is well weighted, well drawn and I think is going to be very hard to hold out on the good track which should suit her.

Race 7 | 4. Forest King

All the money is coming for the local Better Late who trialled up really well after being gelded but I am with the horse who has the fitness and has had a run under the belt this prep. Only been on a GT once and he was four lengths behind Warwoven in a G3. He did grind away resuming but again in a race far deeper than this and on the heavy track which I don't think it loved. Stays at the 1200m which is a plus and from that gate can stalk BL who will lead. Race fitness late will tell a story and I’ll side with this bloke piloted by a star jockey.

MOREE

Race 7 | 3. Buzz Saw

I am waiting until the last of the day to have a bet here and if you blink you'll miss it but Buzz Saw with the 2kg claim will jump lead and say catch me if you can. GT makes it hard to run down and ran well last start when a little soft late. The drop in trip won't hurt and neither will the gate. He will find the fence or sit OSL Shut Eye (can't win) and both work. He will be fit late and be very hard to get past.

Sam Hyland

BALLARAT SYNTHETIC

Race 5 | 6. Miss Mahjong

Looks to have found the right race here on the home track, has been honest this preparation and last second was sound for this.

GOSFORD

Race 8 | 6. You're The Choice

Will be improved from the first up run and she is up to this grade, has been a winner at the track and Chad is a sharp booking.

MOREE

Race 4 | 1. Always A Rainbow

Has had a good break and will be improved with the time off, should be forward first up run and gets a good run from the gate.

MT ISA

Race 2 | 7. Lucy Lulu

Has found the right race and gets in well at the weights, drawn soft and has to be a leading contender in this.

All the best punters!
