YES or NO: The horses that can and can't win the Caulfield Guineas
By Connor Scanlon
Expert form analyst Mark Hunter has taken a look at the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on Saturday.
He has analysed every horse in the race, runner by runner, and believes he has found us the winner!
Caulfield Guineas
Hunter is with the Golden Rose winner Warwoven here, stating he can’t see how that horse can’t win the Guineas, if he runs up to his Golden Rose performance.
“I think the Sydney form's easily the best form, and I think Warwoven will win. It's just got to repeat the Golden Rose run,” Hunter told SENTrack & RSN’s Giddy Up.
“Now, having said that, I don't know where that run came from. All its previous runs have sort of been up on speed over 1100m and 1200m - it would win some races, but it wouldn't be outstanding.
“You would think from that Run To The Rose run first-up that St Gotthard would improve more out of the race going to the Golden Rose second-up than Warwoven would third-up, but it worked the other way.
“It just blew them away (in the Golden Rose), ran unbelievable time, I think it's comfortably the best form in the race.
“I think that Rachel King will go forward, park up in the first two (horses), maybe three, control the race, and if Warwoven runs that Golden Rose run, I can't see how it doesn't win.
“I think the Sydney form is the best form. Warwoven's only got to repeat the Golden Rose run and it should win.”
Hunter’s top three selections in the race are Warwoven (first), Tron Bolt (second) and Blind Raise (third).
Hunter also provided a YES or NO rating for each horse in the Group 1.
