Flemington

Race 1 – Imperatriz Sprint (Handicap) - 1000m

Winner: Ice Kool (4)
Short favourite but can lead or sit near the speed and out-spring them late. 4 from 4 at 1000m.

Best value: Spywire (1)
Highest rated runner and the clear next best behind the favourite. Capable winning if at his best.

Best roughie: Way To The Stars (2)
Can produce a big run under Ethan Brown at double figure odds.

Top 4: 4, 1, 11, 3

Summary: Ice Kool appears the likely winner while Spywire is a good saver. Way To The Stars is the value and Bred ‘Em All also a winning hope.

Race 2 – Red Anchor Stakes (Group 3) - 1200m

Winner: Barracks (4)
Ethan Brown takes the ride. Consistent galloper with strong form and firm in the market. On the 7-day back-up which has worked for the Ciaron Maher stable.

Danger: Valaroso (5)
Impressive maiden win at Seymour last time out. Progressive galloper who can lead or take a sit.

Best roughie: Half Pipe (6)
On the quick back-up, like Barracks. Everest winner Chad Schofield jumps on. Nice price with the inside draw.

Top 4: 4, 2, 6, 5

Summary: Barracks can bounce back with a win for the dangerous Brown/Maher combo. Valaroso is the obvious danger, and Half Pipe represents value.

Race 3 – Drummond Golf Vase (Group 2) - 2040m

Winner: True Rebel (2)
Clear favourite who is also favourite for the Derby. Hard to tip against.

Best value: Joely (11)

Best value: Written Empire (5)
James McDonald rides for the Hayes boys. Progressive and good value.

Top 4: 2, 11, 5, 7

Summary: True Rebel is the obvious choice. Joely looks a great winning hope and J-Mac makes Written Empire very appealing.
