Ellerslie

Race 3 3YO 1400m

8 - 9 - 10 - 11

Grocer Girl has produced two good runs this preparation and comes into this third up and at her peak. Fresh up she was an unlucky 4th at the track behind Asturia who subsequently finished 2nd in the Hawkes Bay Guineas behind Old Fashioned, then last weekend won the G2 Soliloquy Stakes. Second up, the Tarzino Filly finished 2nd to System of Play, an unbeaten colt who is one of the leading contenders for the 2000 Guineas. Grocer Girl draws well and is tactically versatile. Joyeuse keeps meeting one better, in two career starts she has been a narrow runner up in both.

Race 5 Open 1200m

7 - 3 - 2 - 1

Drops Of God has an enormous amount of potential. She has posted 3 wins from her four career outings and has trialled smartly for her return. The Hello Youmzain mare won her first two starts before taking on Stakes company in the G3 Almanzor Trophy, where she finished 3rd behind Belle Cheval, she then went on to pick up a Stakes win in the G3 Cambridge Breeders before she was put aside for a break. The Breeders Stakes has produced 7 individual winners and the runner-up Platinum Pantheon went on the be placed multiple times at stakes level in Australia. She draws barrier one and has the speed to lead or can take a sit without issue.

Race 7 Rating 75 1400m

6 - 8 - 5 - 9

Askil went through a Derby preparation as a there-year-old and was probably not mentally mature enough last Autumn. There is no doubt he has ability and given time he looks like he has returned in smart order, finishing third fresh up in an eye-catching performance. He went back from a wide barrier draw and took inside runs without much galloping room in the home straight, despite that he was still the sectional star of the race, running the quickest last 6, 4 and 200m. Hidden Achievement could be the best horse in this race if he can return to form, finishing 2nd in the Group 1 JJ Atkins as a two-year-old reads well here. He was 4th fresh up over 1200m where he got back and was niggled at when the pressure went on, 1400m should have him travelling better in running. Opie Bosson sticks with Day One, he is two from two on the gelding and the trainer and jockey combo has a career winning strike rate of over 25%.
