Flemington

Race 1 – Carbine Club Stakes (Group 3) - 1600m

Winner: Unhinged (2)

James McDonald for Chris Waller who is chasing three straight Carbines. Maps perfectly from barrier 2.

Best value: Conquer The World (9)

Ben Melham retains the ride off a six-length Cranbourne win. Soft draw and progressive.

Best roughie: Mister Whiskers (1)

Led, controlled and beat a Derby contender last time. Should be in it for a long way.

Top 4: 2, 3, 9, 1

Summary: Unhinged is the one to beat. High Falls the main danger, Conquer The World value and Mister Whiskers a great each-way play.

Race 2 – TAB Vanity (Group 3) - 1400m

Winner: Regal Ambition (1)

Michael Dee sticks for the Hayes team. Not much went right at Group 1 level when third behind Saintly Dancer. Clear favourite.

Danger: Pin Up Sheila (4)

James McDonald rides. Maps to get a nice run near the speed.

Best value: Affari (3)

Craig Williams at a nice price. Consistent form. Gate a little tricky.

Top 4: 1, 4, 2, 3

Summary: Regal Ambition looks hard to beat. Pin Up Sheila is the clear danger. I Am Aria in the mix and Affari as well.

Race 3 – Wakeful Stakes (Group 2) - 2000m

Winner: Icelady (1)

Mark Zahra for Ciaron Maher. Good combo. Favourite for a reason and in strong form.

Best value: Your Colour (5)

J-Mac for Waller. Tough gate to contend with but a talented galloper.

Best roughie: Churchill Rose (6)

A huge price for the Gluyas yard. Craig Williams rides. Beware the SA raider on Derby Day.

Top 4: 1, 3, 5, 6

Summary: Icelady is the one to beat. Your Colour the value, De Armas the main danger on ratings, and Churchill Rose a massive hope as a roughie.

Race 4 – Rising Fast Stakes (Group 3) - 1200m

Winner: Napoleonic (2)

James McDonald again. His best is good enough to win this.

Best value: Sweynesday (5)

Finished off nicely last start at Caulfield behind Cavalry Girl. Can improve second-up any nice odds.

Best roughie: Meridius (8)

First-up for the Lloyd Kennewell yard. Mark Zahra rides. Each-way odds.

Top 4: 2, 5, 8, 20

Summary: Napoleonic looks the standout. Sweynesday and Meridius are great value plays.

Race 5 – The Damien Oliver (Group 2) - 1400m

Winner: Warnie (5)

Mark Zahra for Ciaron Maher. Strong form and maps well from barrier 1 if the rail is on.

Best value: Hughes (10)

Ran well behind War Machine at Caulfield. Can improve second-up.

Best roughie: Cote Atlantique

Big odds from a wide draw. Goes well at this distance.

Top 4: 5, 12, 10, 7

Summary: Warnie is the one to beat. Persian Spirit the main danger. Value runners are Hughes and Cote Atlantique.

Race 6 – Coolmore Stud Stakes (Group 1) - 1200m

Winner: The Next Episode (1)

The rightful favourite. Has a withering turn of foot. Wide draw is good down the straight.

Danger: Satono Glow (13)

Is flying. Two devastating wins in a row. Huge danger.

Best value: Natural Fling

Has plenty of talent. Will take a lot to turn the tables on The Next Episode.

Top 4: 1, 13, 5, 12

Summary: The Next Episode on top. Dangers are Satono Glow, Natural Fling and of course St Gotthard.

Race 7 – Victoria Derby (Group 1) - 2500m

Winner: Stormy Marco (2)

James McDonald for Chris Waller. Strong form and maps well. Wide gate could cause an issue or two, but looks like he wants the trip.

Best value: True Rebel (3)

Is in good form. Wide draw also but good enough to win.

Best roughie: Skua (7)

A nice price. Narrowly beaten by True Rebel last start. Can figure.

Top 4: 2, 1, 3, 7

Summary: Stormy Marco is the one to beat. Cormier is the main danger on ratings. True Rebel and Skua in the mix.

Race 8 – Empire Rose Stakes (Group 1) - 1600m

Winner: Lady Shenandoah (1)

Looks the absolute standout in a weaker edition of the Empire Rose. J-Mac and Waller again.

Best value: Surfin’ Bird (3)

Two wins in a row. Can sit near the speed and prove hard to get past.

Best roughie: Salty Pearl (8)

Can improve for Ciaron Maher. Has come up big odds.

Top 4: 1, 3, 10, 2

Knocking on the door. Craig Williams sticks. Each-way play.

Best roughie: Gentle Steel (9)

Good win first-up. Drawn wide which might suit. Huge odds.

Top 4: 4, 3, 10, 9

Summary: Flying For Fun looks the one to beat. Inkaruna and Gentle Steel the value. Bridal Waltz the danger.
