"Good form line": Eddie McGuire's 2026 Melbourne Cup tip
By SEN
Eddie McGuire's 2026 Melbourne Cup tip is in.
The host of the coveted Melbourne Cup at Flemington on Channel Nine is backing one of the favourites, tipping Trustyourinstinct to win the great race on Tuesday afternoon.
Trustyourinstinct is currently $9 with Sportsbet, which makes the gelding the third favourite behind Hopewell Rock ($7.50) and Point Of Law ($8.50).
Speaking on SEN, McGuire explained why he's backing the seven-year-old which is owned by Irish billionare JP McManus.
"I like Trustyourinstinct, and I'll tell you why," McGuire told SEN's The Run Home.
"Have you ever heard of a guy called JP McManus? Well, JP is in town, and he doesn't leave home often or fly to the other side of the world for no reason.
"This is JP McManus, who used to own Manchester United and, of course, had a bit of a falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson over money...
"But he's one of the best Irish owners. He was a currency trader... put it this way, his backyard is going to be where they'll play the Ryder Cup in two years' time at Adare Manor... it is unbelievable.
"He's got two horses, he's got going, Goodie Two Shoes, who finished second last year, and Trustyourinstinct.
"You look at it and go, 'JP McManus owns it, it's got the green and gold colours, it's being ridden by James McDonald, and it's trained by Joseph O'Brien - who could become the youngest three-time Melbourne Cup winner as a trainer ever'.
"There's a lot to say there's a pretty good form line... "
McManus himself clearly likes the look of English galloper Hopewell Rock after placing a bet of $1 million on the five-year-old at Monday's Melbourne Cup Call of the Card.
