Tim O'Connor has outlined his selections and suggested game plan for tonight's eight-race card at Melton Entertainment Park.

R1 – 5.42pm – TAB We're On Pace – 1720m

9 Tiger Band Wagon

8 Hugo Maguire

7 Cool Night

5 Lottie Moon

This looks an interesting race and Hugo Maguire deserves to be favourite, but I'm keen to back Tiger Band Wagon on the each-way here. He's hitting the line well and going a bit better than his figure form would suggest. He should land handy in the small field, and if there's some speed up front he can close off over the top of them.

BACK: Tiger Band Wagon - 1 unit (win)/2 units (place)

R2 – 6.10pm – Hygain 3YO Maiden Trot – 1720m

2 Dreams Of Love

9 Saydie

3 Exalted Lady

6 I Am Harro

Dreams Of Love's two trials haven't been anything exciting, but her form as a two-year-old suggests she's definitely capable of winning a race like this first-up. We've missed the massive opening price, but I'm still happy to back her in this event tonight.

BACK: Dreams Of Love - 1 unit (win)

R3 – 6.41pm – Garrards Trot – 2240m

3 Keayang Gucci

8 Fouroutoffive

5 Soso Majestic

6 Stockman Peter

R4 – 7.12pm – 2Construct 2YO Trot – 1720m

8 Vytis

4 Mystery Fred

5 Sky Flair

3 Claudys Hero

Vytis' top debut performance was backed up by a brilliant second-up victory when he came with a big finale to score at Melton on June 12. While he has trimmed up from his big opening price early this morning, I still think he's a strong each-way play.

BACK: Vytis - 1 unit (each-way)

R5 – 7.47pm – IRT 3YO Trot – 2240m

1 Jilliby Ballerini

6 Pinnie

5 Kyvalley Michael

7 Rocky Valley

R6 – 8.22pm – Mimosa Homes Pace – 1720m

4 Really Smartie

5 Speculator

1 Ynobe Nova

2 Righteously

R7 – 8.57pm – Hyland Racing Coours Pace – 1720m

7 Nai Harn Bay

4 Super Code

2 Spun Silver

1 Her Madgejesty

Nai Harn Bay has been running brave races from the death seat in recent starts and while he might have to do it tough again, this looks a weak affair and he cleary has the best current form of his rivals.

BACK: Nai Harn Bay - 2 units (win)

R8 – 9.32pm – Catanach's Jewellers Maiden Pace – 1720m

2 Percession

5 Oliver Shark

6 Alamo

4 Pink Scooter

Difficult to take on favourite Percession from the Emma Stewart stable despite his recent trial only being fair, but I think Oliver Shark's two runs to date have been good enough for him to finish inside the top two here. In the small field of six, I'm backing him to run a place.

BACK: Oliver Shark - 2 units (place)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
