Tim O'Connor has outlined his selections and suggested game plan for tonight's nine-race card at MEP.
R1 – 5.32pm – TAB We're On Pace – 2240m
10 Spirit Of Arion
11 Classic Angelina
9 Maxy Wants To Play
12 Twisted Bliss
I'm keen to have a bet on Spirit Of Arion after his eye-catching debut for the new stable last time out. He was held up approaching the turn and went back to the inside before ripping out a scintillating finishing burst to just miss Heavenly Gipsy. His last half was a fast 54.71sec and a similar performance here will have him very hard to beat.
BACK: 10 Spirit Of Arion – 2 units (win)
R2 – 6.02pm – Renown Silverware Trot – 2240m
10 Mitchell Wrap
8 Mcgee
9 Picket Wire
2 Aardies Peak
Mitchell Wrap hasn't been seen at the races since July 11, but his form leading up to a little break was really strong. He produced two phenomenal victories at Stawell and Terang before coming from last to run fourth to three in-form trotters at Ballarat. If he trots and the speed is on, look out late.
BACK: 10 Mitchell Wrap – 1 unit (each-way)
R3 – 6.32pm – Ride High Vicbred Super Series 4YO E&G (1st heat) – 2240m
5 Our Vincent Can Gogh
1 Compete
8 Starzzz Destiny
2 Bart Bentley
R4 – 7pm – Rock N Roll Heaven Vicbred Super Series 4YO Mares (1st heat) – 2240m
1 Isthisjustfantasy
2 Ludacrous
7 Surfingmakescents
10 Sahara Breeze
R5 – 7.30pm - Ride High Vicbred Super Series 4YO E&G (2nd heat) – 2240m
7 Keayang Tokyo
3 Blazing Home
10 The Lost Storm
2 Young Bluey
R6 – 8pm - Ride High Vicbred Super Series 4YO E&G (3rd heat) – 2240m
3 Exotic Bushranger
8 High Above
6 Classic Mission
9 Heza Punk Rocker
Exotic Bushranger is the only horse to have beaten star filly Very Pretty and returns to the races tonight following that performance on July 20. He will get an easy lead here and might just have too much dash for his key rivals.
BACK: 3 Exotic Bushranger – 1 unit (win)
R7 – 8.30pm - Rock N Roll Heaven Vicbred Super Series 4YO Mares (2nd heat) – 2240m
4 Sweet Bella
1 Paradise Valley
5 Vee Em Gee Macray
2 Credulous
R8 – 9.02pm - Ride High Vicbred Super Series 4YO E&G (4th heat) – 2240m
10 Perfect Class
4 Roadmaster
8 Little Louie
1 Hy Poactive
Roadmaster is a very talented pacer and might be able to work to the front here, but Perfect Class is becoming a seasoned free-for-all campaigner who has turned in some brilliant runs from the death seat in recent weeks. I think he's good enough to sit parked and win.
BACK: 10 Perfect Class – 3 units (win)
R9 – 9.30pm – Swift Signs Pace – 1720m
8 Jay Bee
5 Nothing Sweeter
6 Final Bow
1 Etiz Amodel
Tough race to close the card, but I'd be surprised if the in-form Jay Bee doesn't finish hard to run a place.
BACK: 8 Jay Bee – 2 units (place)

** A betting unit is typically a percentage of the total bankroll or the amount of money you are willing to risk on a particular bet – for example 1 unit is 10% of your bankroll, therefore with a $100 bankroll 1 unit equals $10.
