Jaykayann ready to inflict Payne on her rivals at Morphettville on Saturday.

Looking to keep things simple for our two plays on Saturday, as we head back to headquarters for what's a tricky nine-race card.

We wait to the sixth for our best bet, where I'm confident Jaykayann from the sharp Patrick Payne yard is ready to return to winning ways.

Jaykayann sets up perfectly for this as she steps out to the 2500m. The five-year-old mare has had four attempts stepping out over journeys 2400m+, making two of them successful - her most recent win producing a career peak rating when running to 98+ on the Racing and Sports scale.

The daughter of Tavistock has found the frame nicely in her three runs back from a 291-day spell, putting the writing on the wall last start at Sandown-Lakeside (2100m) when closing quickly into a narrow second (0.7L) and running 92+, the plus an indicator of how hard she hit the line.

Suspect Patty Payne will have his mare ready to fire come Saturday and with the slightest touch of improvement she will prove too hard to hold out.

I'm also keen on a fellow Victorian in the race following (7), where I'm siding with the Matt Laurie-trained Ranveer.

The five-year-old has improved with each run this campaign and should be nearing his peak now with the three runs under his belt. The Winning Rupert gelding has spent a long time out of the winner's circle but has admittedly had two long breaks with his share of issues.

Carrying the top weight (62kgs), it's a good push to see a senior jockey booking in Todd Pannell, a tell from Laurie that he thinks his gelding is a cut above. Ranveer comes through some solid form races back in Vic and also holds the benefit of a favourable draw, as opposed to some of his main dangers who are priced inside of him.

Suspect we will see somewhere near, if not the best version of Ranveer on Saturday, and if that's the case he's sure to be right there when the judge calls halt.
