Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - ON THE MARK (1) hasn't been far away his past few in much tougher company and will relish this drop back to country level. He has the speed to get across from a wide alley and make his own luck up front. Looks to have a class edge on this field and should be shedding the maiden tag. FORBIDDEN APPLE (4) comes into this third-up and ready to fire following a 4.2L defeat at Pinjarra (S) last time out. This is an easier race and ZJP takes 1.5kg off with his claim. Can make an impression in what looks a suitable event. ARIARNE MEDLEY (7) stuck on well over 1200m here first-up to finish just 1.9L off the winner in her first run for the stable. Close to her best there and further improvement is expected after a long layoff. Won't be far away. JUSTICE (11) has been racing in tougher races at Bunbury with the form out of those races stacking up well. Include. CHEWING THE FAT (2) is best of the rest.
RACE 2 - CALICO KID (1) won well two back at this track and trip before finishing 0.7L off the winner over 1700m last time out. Back to this course and distance now where he boasts a strong record and he only rises 1kg on that win two starts ago. Can get back to winning ways. WAR TACTICS (5) finished behind Calico Kid two starts ago before a disappointing effort over the mile here last time out. Back to this trip is a big tick and he meets Calico Kid better at the weights this time around. Ticking along nicely and appears the main danger. HERO OF THE DAWN (3) got over the top to win by 0.9L last time out and steps out to 1400m again. His record over this trip is a niggle, but he's in good form since re-joining the Evans stable. Can be in the finish if he runs to recent efforts.. WESTERN IMPACT (7) stuck on well over the mile last start and drops back in trip today. Wide draw is a niggle but his best form is good enough.
RACE 3 - SPEEDY PYE (5) was a very impressive winner over this course and distance a fortnight ago, winning by 1.8L when running on from midfield. She draws a much better gate this time around and while her third-up record is just fair, she rates highly on her last start win. Can repeat the dose. BOLTA (1) is hard to knock on recent form, finishing behind Speedy Pye last start when jumping favourite. He ended up a long way back there and he's drawn wide again this time around. Rises in weight, but is better than he showed last start and is sure to go close. TINY'N'TUFF (7) ended up a long way back here last start and can sit a touch closer this time around. Expecting improvement. STARTTHEFRIAR (2) can be in the finish if he runs up to his latest effort.
RACE 4 - KENTUCKY BLUE (2) went under at Port Hedland last start following a good win there two starts ago. Back out to 1700m now which won't pose an issue and his prior form stacks right up. Can bounce back to winning form. LET'S ERUPT (4) was far too good over the mile here a fortnight ago and shouldn't be worries by the slight rise in trip. This is a tougher race, but she maps well and she appears the main danger. MAN FROM MEMPHIS (7) got a long way back last start and never really featured following a good effort over the mile here two back. Nicely weighted after the claim of Sardelic and he maps for a nice run in transit. Track and trip winner previously and he's sure to be in the finish. SLY AS A FOX (3) just missed last start over the mile here and has strong claims. NIGHTS MYSTERY (8) was good last time out and a repeat effort will see him in the finish.
RACE 5 - SAINTLY CITY (10) has been racing in much stronger races of late, only finishing 4.2L off the winner last start at Belmont. Now right back to Country level and he's won 2/2 at this course and distance. Ready to fire with Faithfull engaged and she should be getting the job done if he runs to form. GOLDEN FIGHTER (1) turned in a good effort at Belmont last start when only 1.6L off the winner and should be fitter again third-up. Drawn well for Kissick, he can be handy in the run and take plenty of catching. WISE WORDS (5) is looking for her fourth win in-a-row, winning by 0.7L over 1406m at Roebourne last start. The drop in trip is a little niggle, but she's drawn well and is expected to be right in the finish. PRIMATIVE (9) bolted in two back before a disappointing effort here last start. Best form is good enough and he can bounce back. SPEEDING COMET (3) is better than he showed last start and is not to be discounted.
RACE 6 - REGAL CITY (2) led them up but was caught late over 1400m here last start, continuing his good run of form without winning. He steps out to the mile now though where he boasts a strong record and he should get all the favours out in front. Will take some beating. WHO'S YOUR MAMA (6) was only 1.2L away last start at over 1700m when sitting up on the speed throughout. While this is a tougher event, she drops plenty of weight and Sardelic has a good record aboard the mare. Racing well and should make her presence felt. SET THE SCENE (5) kept up his strong form with a narrow win over this course and distance 28 days ago. He drops plenty of weight today and the sticky draw won't pose an issue. Can be in the finish if he holds his form. MARXIAN (1) usually improves sharply third-up and can bounce back. WELD (7) us better than he showed last start and won't be far away.
