Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - TIVACISAURUS (1) jumped favourite again last start and was disappointing as he becomes a bit of a 'punters enemy'. His ratings aside from last start suggest he's going to run away with a race like this soon and he still has plenty of upside. He's good enough, he just needs to put it all together now. BROWN MORN (2) has returned in good order this time in, finishing 2.2L off the winner over 2300m at Pinjarra last time out. He'll be fitter again and he too has plenty of improvement and upside to come. Drawn well for Brad Parnham and is likely to get his chance. WEST MASSIV (3) comes through a good form race at Bunbury last start where he was beaten 2.7L over 1695m. Right out in trip now, but gets the aid of the inside alley and CJP in the saddle. Expecting a bold effort. LEAD BY EXAMPLE (5) has been around the mark her past couple and the extra trip suits. GUN LAKE (4) handled the rise in trip last time and will be better for that effort. Include.
RACE 2 - OUR MATE ARCHIE (4) won two trials in April before spelling, returning with another trial win with Pike in the saddle late last month. The inside alley helps as he possesses good early speed and if he runs up to his trials, he'll be very hard to run down from the front. SAFEKEEPER (5) didn't handle the conditions at Pinjarra last start and drops back 100m for today's test. Holly Watson hops in the saddle having ridden the mare before and her form stacks up nicely in this event. Expecting her to bounce back in a big way. POLYVANOVA (9) wasn't disgraced on debut behind a smart one and looks to be back in good form judging by her recent trial. The blinkers remain on for raceday and she'll carry no weight from a good alley. Carbery sticks from the trial and she's sure to put her best foot forward. RAZMAS (1) was sound first-up at Belmont and has claims. DESERT MADAME (10) contested a strong race on debut in April and has trialled well this time in. Live chance.
RACE 3 - RIVER ANGEL (11) looks ready for a bold debut following a good trial win this time in work. William Pike was on board for that trial on August 26 and he remains in the saddle today. The exposed form doesn't look overly strong, leaving the door ajar for a horse like her to shed the maiden tag. SAXON JEWEL (3) brings the best of that exposed form with a 1.5L defeat in tougher company on debut. The wide draw is a niggle, but she rates well off that effort and improvement is expected. Likely to be in the finish once again. AMAROO STAR (1) didn't have much go right on debut, being slow out and being well back in the run. He did close off nicely though and his lead-up trial saw him start a 9-4 chance. Better for the run and sharp improvement is expected. LOONA DAWN (8) looked good when winning a recent trial and Steve Parnham sticking is a positive sign. MIGHTY HOSANNA (4) looks to have come back in good order and is not to be discounted.
RACE 4 - ARCADIA PARK (15) has shown good ability in his two runs to date, closing off well in Saturday company most recently at Belmont. He drops right back to Maiden company today and sneaks in at the bottom of the weights. Pike hops back in the saddle and this looks a very suitable race for him. MISS WALL STREET (8) ran on well from midfield to end up 1.8L off the winner in Heavy conditions at Pinjarra first-up. Fitter for that effort and rising in trip should suit. Gets a big tick with Chris Parnham sticking and she's expected to take plenty of beating. MANHATTAN JEWEL (9) disappointed first-up over 1200m on Heavy going and is much better than she showed that day. CJP hops in the saddle now and with improvement expected, she can make her presence felt. JACKPOT BINGO (16) resumes today and has trialled well coming in. Blinkers go on and he's not to be discounted. LUCKY CHELS (14) steps right up in trip and looks an improver.
RACE 5 - IMAROCK GOD (3) is inching closer to his maiden win, finishing 3.9L off the winner last start in Heavy going. Back to this course and distance where it took a smart one to beat him two starts ago and he maps to get every chance from the draw. Racing well and finds the right race today. ALL VITAL (2) has been thereabouts throughout this campaign, finishing just 1.3L off the winner at Belmont last time out. He continues to improve with racing and the wide draw doesn't hurt. May get back in the run but he's sure to be storming home late. DREAM ILLUSION (4) wasn't far away at Bunbury 21 days ago when beaten 2.3L and he looks ready for the rise in grade now. Pike hops back in the saddle which is a big tick and he draws the best gate he's seen in his career. Can make his presence felt. HARLEQUIN PRANCER (10) just missed last start and looks suited by the jump in trip. Won't be far away. SNIPPY SEAN (15) can improve on a solid first-up effort.
RACE 6 - PIN DEEP (1) was far too good first-up down the Pinjarra straight, running away to win by 2.1L. The extra 100m doesn't appear an issue and ZJP's 3kg claim comes in handy. He looks to have plenty of ability and he should be prominent in the run. Sure to take plenty of catching. SEEYOUATTHESESSION (4) was ticking along nicely before a hiccup in Saturday grade last start, but that form has already been franked. He's a course and distance winner previously and while he is likely to be back in the run, his best form would see him coming home with a wet sail. JAZ SESSION (6) couldn't hold on when leading the field over 1300m at Belmont last time out, beaten 3.6L. She'll appreciate the drop in trip and she still has plenty of upside. Her prior form is good enough to feature in a race like this. BISECTOR (3) boasts a strong second-up record and draws well compared to her rivals. Big chance. MAKE YOUR POINT (7) is better than he showed last start. Worth thought.
RACE 7 - FAMOUS DAIN (1) got the job done first-up before a 3L defeat behind an in-form galloper last start at Belmont. Now out to the mile third-up where his best ratings came last prep. Drawn well for Chris Parnham and at his peak now, he can get the job done. DARK LOOKS (2) is knocking on the door of another victory, just missing out at Belmont over 1650m as favourite most recently. The pacifiers go on this time with Carbery remaining in the saddle. May get back in the run but she'll be doing her best work late. ISHKUR (5) disappointed last start at Belmont when behind Dark Looks, though she was trending the right way before that. Happy to overlook one blip and she may not have handled the quick turnaround. Worth following up. MISSILE STORM (6) was a little plain second-up, though that is usually the case with him. Ready to bounce back now third-up and should get his chance. MORE SPECIAL (3) is better than she showed last start and is not to be discounted.
RACE 8 - FORTUNE'S LUCK (4) ran on well over 1400m here last start and is on the quick turnaround today. CJP hops in the saddle this time and he's won when riding previously. Ticking along well when winning and she's expected to prove hard to hold out. HARBIN (1) was beaten at short odds in his three runs in work last time out and has been switched to the Donna Riordan stable since his latest run. Freshened and back to 1300m now. All the gear comes off now and he's expected to put himself into the frame. THE GREAT HOYA (3) stuck on well when leading last time out in Heavy going and draws a nice barrier this time around. He'll find this much easier than his recent efforts and Gaerth has won 2/7 when partnering. Sure to make his presence felt. CANNY JACK (5) bumped into one last start but is racing well early in his campaign. Can improve now and won't be far away. LINDEN'S GOLD (2) is better than he showed last time out and can fire following a freshen-up.
