I think Lane got that a bit wrong and went too slowly in front with the sectionals showing he certainly could've gone faster. Still, he's improved his rating narrowly at every start, running to 103 on the R&S scale last time out.

That's four pounds higher than the next best last start rating, and from barrier one, Collett should be able to spear straight to the front and keep them running.

The danger, and one I'm happy to save on given the prices on offer, is Pure Alpha. He's a lightly raced 3yo who has a strong record and won nicely last start at the Kenso, showing a strong turn of foot to win well.

He's open to plenty more improvement and if he can get into a trailing position, he should go close.

Dutching the pair gives you a return of $2.30 which looks more than fair, and I'd be looking to weight that in favour of Elouyou.

For the each-way play, we roll forward one event to Race 9 where Highlights can bounce back from a disappointing run last start. It was noted that he may have raced flat having run three weeks in a row, and I also think the heavy track was against him.

He should get a better surface here and his previous couple of ratings would go very close to winning this, with the double figures on offer looking a fair gamble.
