Summer Scorcher (LR)
Classy four-year-old mare Magnifisio ($3 fav) raced away to an easy win. She had a good trip in third place before moving up comfortably (three wide) rounding the home turn. She dashed to the lead at the 200m and then raced away to win by almost three lengths, sprinting home in a smart 33.89 (last 600m). She looks capable of going on to even better things. Second favourite Shining knight ($3.40) was well back in ninth place to the home turn. He ran on very well late to just grab second without ever looking likely to trouble the winner. It was a very good effort, nevertheless. dueton settled in sixth place, one off the rails, put in a good run on straightening and then kept battling on well for a good third, beaten just under three lengths. *ANZ
