Three-year-old colt Bondeiger has now won two of his four starts, albeit narrowly here. He settled in sixth place, one off the rails before improving wide from the 600m. He challenged on straightening and after quite a battle finished best to win by a nose in the last few strides. Royal Standing raced outside the leader Kapset, challenged that horse in the straight and got to narrow lead at the 100m only to be beaten at the post by a nose to finish a good second. Kapset went to the front and set a moderate early pace to the turn. He fought back quite well when challenged, weakening late for third. The promising filly Fenway was fifth on the rails to the turn, took a while to wind up in the sprint home and looked a bit unlucky in the latter stages, finishing fourth.
