Tab Launceston Cup (G3)
Eastender backed up his recent win in the Hobart Cup (Gr 3, 2400m) with another good staying effort in taking out this Group 3 feature and fourth success win. He settled in seventh place, improved along to inner to be fourth approaching the home turn. Craig Newitt steered him into clear running on straightening and he finish a bit too well to score in good style. Noted front-runner Fabrizio went to the front, set quite a good tempo, held an advantage on turning for home and then battled strongly for second. Lamborghini settled near last in the tenhorse field, got along the rails coming to the home turn and then battled on nicely on the inner to take third. The favourite Etymology was third early on before racing in a handy fifth position. He moved up nearing the home turn but then faded to finish (6.1 lengths) eighth, racing below his previous good form.
