City Jeep Bill Stutt Stakes (G2)
Damien Oliver eased Divine Calling from his outside barrier (12) and settled about tenth one off the rails, following a solid pace. He moved up well, wide with cover, from the 600m and fanned wide nearing the home turn to challenge on straightening and after a great battle in the home straight, he finished a little too well for a narrow but impressive win. He then survived a protest from the runner-up Shamus Award who led early before being eased to race in second place and then challenged approaching the turn. Shamus Award took the lead on turning for home and then fought on particularly well after his early efforts for a very good second. Cluster was ridden patiently and settled second last in the 12-horse field. He switched out wide, following Divine Calling, coming to the turn. He then challenged strongly at the 100m and then kept fighting on for a close third. Bring Something was last to the 600m point. He went wide at the turn and ran on fairly well late to grab fourth just in front of Late Charge who was handy on the rails all the way and held on nicely for fifth. *ANZ
