Three-year-old filly For Lulu followed her good first-up win in a Cranbourne Maiden Handicap (1200m) on 28 November with a smart all-the-way win here. She was quickly away and relaxed well, setting quite a good tempo (first 600m 35.39). She picked up the pace nearing the home turn, grabbed a clear break on straightening and was eased down coming to the post to win impressively by just over two lengths, sprinting home in 34.95. The Mark Kavanagh trained filly Relaunch did not show any early pace and settled at the tail of the eight-horse field. She looked for an inside run at the home turn, got a late split on passing the 100m and came with a late run to take a good second, looking suited to further
