Top weight Hi World raced in fourth place, one out and one back. He improved on passing the 600m, went to the front at the 200m and then drew away to win easily by almost two lengths, running the 1600m out strongly. He has now won two of his five starts and is a promising staying-bred three-year-old. Lie Direct raced outside the leader, challenged strongly at the 200m and then fought on for a sound (1.8 lengths) second. Imperial Lass was back in last place in the eight-horse field before moving up wide at the 600m. But she was still back in fifth at the 200m before picking-up late to take third, looking suited to further still.
