The track bias all day for races around one turn was for leaders or those handy turning in and The Filly capitalized on this big time She sped to the front and after a breather across the top kicked clear turning for home and was never going to be caught. The time of 1:23.23 was the best clocked for the 1400m on the day when times overall were nothing fantastic. The Filly is a natural leader but she still went out at massive odds having been well beaten at her prior start albeit slaughtered by an apprentice. The mare defeated the hotpot and sentimental runner I Do by a long neck and it is worth noting she finished third too it at G3 four starts ago beaten just under two lengths. The form suggests it was track bias that saw The Filly beat I Do as that mare has her measure under normal circumstances. Postmans Daughter was a super third beaten less than a length as she got trapped wide throughout and never saw what the fence looked like. Moozoon fought on okay from a perfect sit the outer considering she was at WFA versus her own sex for the first time and has come up well this season it seems. Better Keeper should have at least been in the money but for a tactical blunder by her rider Rory Hutchings as he came away from the inner near the home turn when going well and then got held up. The fact the mare was beaten just a length and a half is damning as the jockey gave away a length at least by coming away from a dream fence trip and especially with the winner and Amberio ahead of him. Amberio is a Listed winner and G3 placed in 2012 but even more relevant is she was a Listed third equal (behind I Do and Postmans Daughter) just four starts ago and six starts ago was a Listed second behind I Do (with The Filly third). No homework was clearly done here. Marotiri Miss was a big recovery and ran on well after being checked back to last early. Pussy O’Reilly was disappointing on face value but when settling so far back the track bias was what really gave her no chance. Costa Viva was disappointing but she can be forgiven like many on the day as settling back ensured no win for sure and most likely no placing either. Queens Rose was crowded early so forgive but she is a WFA query still at this moment (she was a disappointing eighth in this event last year behind Postmans Daughter). The formlines here were skewed due to track bias at Hawera but as to how much depth overall in reality nothing has changed and the local numbers given are still way too high.
