The Lloyd Kennewell-trained filly La Pomme De Pin scored a very smart win. Having her second race start after a debut second at Morphettville on 28 October, she was quickly away from barrier nine and immediately went to the front. She then travelled along well at a good tempo, turned for home with a clear break before going on to score easily by five and a half lengths, handling the Soft 7 track well. The Matt Cumani-trained filly Anthemoessa, who was racing on debut, had a good trip from her inside barrier (1) racing in fourth place on the rails. She got through to second on straightening and kept fighting on to hold that position without looking likely to trouble the winner. The favourite, the Tony McEvoy-trained filly Our Toninicconi did not show much early pace before settling in eighth place on the rails. She responded to riding on turning for home, improving on the rails to be third at the 200m and kept battling on to hold the minor placing in a photo in a sound debut on the affected track.
