Belmont Classic (LR)
Smart filly Summah’s Touch followed her recent wins in the Belmont Guineas (Listed, 1600m) and Belmont Oaks (Listed, 2000m) with another stakes win here. She settled well, racing midfield one off the rails, following a moderate tempo. She got a split approaching the home turn to challenge on straightening and took the lead at the 200m. She then drew away to win nicely by a length and half. fashion Princess raced behind the leader to the turn, got clear to challenge at the 200m and then fought on well for second. The Fred Kersley-trained Northpace ($2.25 fav) was about tenth one off the rails, moved up wide from the 600m to challenge at the 200m and then kept battling on to take third, beaten just under two lengths. His stablemate Go Tiger was about seventh on the rails to the turn but was blocked until half way down the straight before making ground for an unlucky fourth. *ANZ
