The SA-trained Budriguez went to the lead and set a reasonable pace (first 1000m 60.80) before pinching a nice breaking approaching the home turn. He was still clear at the 100m but tired from that point, lasting to win by half length at the post. The mare Invest travelled along well in fifth place on the rails to the turn, before getting between runners in the straight, moving to second at the 100m then finishing well to be beaten a neck at the post. Lord Of Brazil, who has been racing in good form, finished third. He was fourth one off the rails to the 600m before improving three wide at the home turn and fighting on the take the minor placing at the post. The outsider The Wingman was a distant ninth to the 600m and got a good inside run at the turn. He kept making ground, running on surprisingly well for fourth. The Chris Waller-trained Foreteller raced in sixth place one off the rails. He switched out on straightening and kept fighting on in the sprint home to finish fifth. *ANZ
