Autumn Classic (G2)
Super Cool was ridden patiently by Michael Rodd racing in fifth spot in the six-horse field before improving three wide from the 600m point. He got to second at the 300m and continued to finish well, despite the sprint-home tactics, to grab a one length win at the post. It was an impressive effort. Fiveandhalfstar began quickly and immediately led. Glen Boss set a moderate pace (first 1200m 1:15.19) before increasing the tempo nearing the home turn and pinching a break on straightening. He looked the winner in the straight, being overtaken just before the post. Subiaso travelled in third place one off the rails with cover. He came up three wide at the turn, got to third at the 200m and kept battling on to take the minor place, just over five lengths behind the second-placed horse. The South Australian three-year-old Bit Of A Schiller raced outside the leader (Fiveandhalfstar) to the turn, tiring from that point to finish fourth, beaten nine lengths.
