Pillar Of Creation was smartly away from his wide barrier (12) and crossed to the lead at the 800m. He travelled well and turned for home with a nice break. He then continued to battle on strongly all the way down the straight to win well by just over a length and a quarter. The lightly raced and promising Committed had a good trip in fifth, one off the rails, to the 600m. He moved up wide rounding the turn, put in a run passing the 300m and kept fighting on nicely for a good first-up second. The highly consistent filly Hai Lil raced in sixth place and improved wide from the 600m. She went to the centre of the track at the 300m and ran on gamely with her top weight (60kg) for a very good third. Mister John came from midfield for fourth while the filly Winter Chiller made good ground late for fifth. *ANZ
