The unbeaten Atlantic Jewel made a brilliant return to racing with an effortless win in this Group One event. She began smartly, travelled well in third place and after being wide in stages, moved up easily (four wide) rounding the home turn. She cruised to the front passing the 200m and went on to score by just over two lengths without any pressure being applied at any stage by Michael Rodd. Ferlax had a good run about sixth one off the rails to the turn. He switched out passing the 300m and battled on particularly well for second. Super Cool was just past midfield to the 800m and was wide with cover from the 600m. He went to the extreme outside at the 300m and ran on very well for a bold firstup third. It’s A Dundeel travelled well in fifth spot on the rails to the turn. He got through to third at the 200m and kept fighting on nicely for a good first-up fourth, beaten just under three lengths. Green Moon was third last in the 13-horse field most of the way to the turn. He got clear passing the 200m and then made up a lot of ground for late-closing fifth. Fiorente was near last to the 800m. He went to the centre nearing the turn but was blocked at 200m and he kept fighting on well, without getting fully clear for a sound first-up sixth. Happy Trails was handily placed to the turn and battled on fairly well for seventh. The classy NZ mare Silent Achiever was midfield on the rails and failed to get clear at any stage before finishing five and half lengths back in eleventh. *ANZ
