In Cahoots settled in a nice spot fifth on the rails from his good barrier (3) before switching between runners rounding the home turn. He moved up to challenge at the 200m and drew clear in the latter stages to score a good win with 59.5kg. It was also a very good ride by Damien Oliver. Adamantium showed his customary pace and soon crossed from the outside barrier (13) to lead. He then fought back gamely when challenged, holding on for a good second. The SA-trained Éclair Big Bang was third on the rails to the turn. He attempted to force a run at the 300m, finally got clear at the 75m and ran on for an unlucky third. Fast ‘N’ Rocking was eighth between runners, was under pressure from the 200m and kept running on for fourth, beaten one length.
