Crown Golden Ale Alinghi Stks (LR)
Vezalay was not the quickest away but she improved along the rails from her good barrier (2), driving through to hold the ead nearing the 600m. She sprinted to a clear on straightening and although tiring a bit in the closing stages still had enough in hand to score a good win. Miss Promiscuity was smartly away from her wide barrier (11), led early (wide out) and settled (three deep without cover) outside the leading pair. She went second at the 200m and fought gamely after a difficult trip for a good second. Tuscan Sling was about fifth, three deep with cover. She moved up on turning for home and then kept battling on in good style for a close-up third. I Love It began well but was caught deep from barrier (10) and settled near the tail of the field. She switched out at the 200m and then ran on well for a good fourth, beaten just under a length. Fontiton was fourth, between runners, got a split at the 200m and then battled on for (2.2 lengths) fifth.
