The Kris Lees-trained filly Savoureux is building a good record now having raced five times for three wins and two seconds. She began well from her wide barrier (12) but was trapped three wide in fourth place before making a quick move to race outside the leader at the 600m. She was under pressure at the 200m but then kept battling on well to grab a narrow win in the last few strides. Tales Of Fashion worked in the early stages from her outside barrier (13), crossing to the lead at the 800m. She got a break at the 300m and then fought on particularly well, only being overtaken in the last few strides for a good second. The favourite Hijack Hussy, having her first run since winning in Listed class at the Flemington Carnival on 4 November, did not show much early pace and dropped out to last shortly after the starts. She was still giving the leaders about ten lengths when she went to the centre of the track approaching the 200m and then stormed home late for an eye-catching third.
