Sold last month for $700,000, Miss Gunpowder provided an immediate return with a win here. She jumped well and was a handy fourth or fifth, one off the fence to the top of the straight. Jockey Craig Williams angled her out at the 300m but her response was at first tardy then at the 150m she pulled to the front, Williams driving hard and she was able to hold on at the line. Too Good To Refuse was a clear last all the way to the 200m, accelerated hard out in the middle of the track and flew at the winner, just failing to get up in a thriller. Jimmy Rea was also well back turning in and kept up a strong run to be almost in line at the finish while Casual Choice was another back runner who finished well in a crowded lineup at the post, a half length covering the first four home.
