Appreciating the jump in distance, easy last start Sandown winner Heavenly Thought made it three wins in 11 starts and his maiden stakes win with a nice effort here. Given a lovely ride by Damian Lane he settled midfield with a circuit to run, saving ground next to the fence. Still midfield down the back straight Lane waited until the 500m before peeling out to be just in behind the leaders turning for home. A couple of bumps at the top of the straight did not deter him and once balanced he went after the breakaway leader, collared him inside the 50m and then eased into the lead a few strides off the post for a convincing win. Han Xin did all the work out in front, led to the straight then broke clear. He had them in trouble but was caught inside the 50m for a good second. Favourite Dark Dream sat midfield one out to the home straight and with every chance kept on fairly well for third from So You Win, who ranged up to challenge at the 200m but barely held on for fourth.
